Advice for the gym

    Hi all,

    I just joined the the nofap community yesterday. Its awesome! I didn't know such a place existed! I'm just trying to soak everything in and read and put into practice all the advice thats out there.

    The problem that I have is with the gym. I workout six days a week and have been going for the past five years now. With the gym, obviously there are gorgeous women everywhere wearing tight spandex, sports bras, and other skimpy workout clothes. So every time I go there, I always check the women out and ogle over them like their a sex object. Being a perv that I am, I would also take a peak at there ass or down their top whenever they would bend down or walk by when there not looking. I obviously want to change this behaviour as its not conducive to nofap lifestyle. Has anyone else gone through this and what are some tips you can recommend to avoid this temptation? I just came back from the gym tonight and I made I concentrated effort to not stare at the women's bodies. My mindset was to just look them in the face and treat them as a person (albeit an attractive person) and not an object. I admit it was difficult at times though. There was a few instances where a female would be working out right in front of me wearing something tight that would show off her body and I had to keep my focus and keep my gaze in the opposite direction. One thing I found that was helpful was saying to myself, "do you want to fantasize and fap to these women, or do you want to meet one of these women and have a real relationship with them? These women are looking for confident nofap kind of guys."

    I guess my problem can pretty much apply anywhere and not just at the gym. At the beach, the mall, the grocery store. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    PS after watching the movie Don Juan, I thought thats me. Lol. Minus Scarlett Johansson :(

    Don't go to the gym, do sports in your home or in a park.

  3. Once you get a good nofap streak going, you'll notice yourself ogling less. I was doing great with this until I relapsed and again found myself walking around in public like a dog in heat.
     
  4. Write down your goals for the gym. It's probably something like this;

    Increase bench by 50lbs
    Squat 2x bodyweight
    4 sets 10 Pullups

    Notice there is no "stare/oogle/salivate over women" in the list? That's b/c you're there to workout. You gotta get your focus on before you go in the gym. Yes women are beautiful and the greatest gift to man but at the gym it's all business.

    Build you a playlist that you only listen to at the gym. Turn it on as your driving/gtraveling to the gym. Get you a piece of something that you only wear at the gym, be it a pair of shoes, a wristband, an 80s headband or even a specific color of socks. Only wear them at the gym--this is a physical cue to get your brain in a specific mode. "I'm wearing my cowboy socks. That means it's time to workout."

    I do these same things and they work well. My brain switches to workout mode which minimizes distractions.

    Focus on your workout more to focus on the ladies less.
     
  5. Get a spot facing the wall or try working out at home until you have 90 days clean.

    Hi there.

    I completely understand what you're going though as I myself have struggled with the same problem in the past. I'm no expert but my advice to you would be to just focus on your workout, and if you're going through the no PMO journey you'll see you'll start to stare less and less at women. Quitting PMO and bettering focus go hand in hand.

  7. Walk into gym. Don't look around. Stay focused on your machine/barbell and your feet. Work out like a gorilla. Go home.

    Thanks for all the replies guys. Yes I think I just need to keep my focus, don't look around, work out like a biatch, and get in and get out. No bullshitting. It's usually the time I'm resting between sets that my eyes wander. I agree with you Maximo L that as I continue my PMO journey I'll stare less and less at women.

    So went to the gym last night and I treated it as all business. When I got in, I didn't look around like I usually do and scan for the ladies. Even though I was aware they were there and whenever I was near them, I didn't stare at their bodies like I usually do. It was one of my best workouts I had in awhile. Had a ton of energy and set a PB for my close grip bench! My confidence was sky high and I felt like a million bucks! Can't wait to see how future workouts will progress with the increasing test building up in my body.
