After my most recent masturbation slip up, I realized that my main trigger recently has been boredom/lack of passion in my life. The story is usually something like this: Lots of studying to do on an afternoon, and I know that no matter how much I get done I’ll have plenty more to do the next day. Masturbation becomes a way for me to escape the boredom/never ending school work and to inject some passion into my life.

I think a big reason I turn to masturbation is to inject passion into my life. So I’m looking for ideas on how to find healthy ways to do that. Any ideas on how to find/develop passions that can replace masturbation in my life?

Well lets just start by considering people don't readily list pornography consumption as a "hobby." The kind of passion that PMO induces is of course also rather brief and fleeting.

That's probably a good indicator that anything healthy needs to be gradually cultivated. I would imagine it's kind of like a cave man starting a fire, it may take a while for the spark to catch and then you got the kindling to get it going to a significantly large fire to start burning some big pieces of wood.

Obviously nobody can tell you what to be interested in, it'll be different for everyone but regardless of the specific thing chosen maybe one thing that prevents people from fully discovering that is not sticking with it long enough to know it's something you'd enjoy and be good at.

Not sure where you're at in your studies but try not to think only in terms of the textbooks and assigned reading only. When it's not a textbook some of the stuff might actually be worthwhile reading, try not to think about the fact that it's required and assigned and judge it on its own merits. You may not find your passion in any of it but something in there might be a clue and you might segue to something from there.

You can divide out the type of hobby also: physical, technical, or artistic.

I'll suggest finding one that you do the least in your lifestyle as a way to cross-train the your mind. For example: I have a highly technical profession, and exercise enough to be healthy, so I took up painting as a creative non-technical outlet. If you're an artist, then you may want to get into some kind of technical craft. If you live in the city, you can take up outdoorsmanship whether that be camping, fishing, hunting.

Careful not to "buy" your way into a hobby since most hobbies can be a real money pit, even painting can be like a $100 a pop if you're not careful. Music has some upfront cost but cheap over the long run.

Cruise around youtube for different kinds of activities and spot the ones that really resonate with you.
