I abstained from gaming for two years. I didn't do it on purpose of course. I was just working really hard and didn't have time for anything else. And it's actually not two hours a day on average (I did that last week because I got a new game). For example, this week I only had the time to play for one and a half hour in total (cause work).

But still, if you somehow believe that gaming the way I do it is unhealthy then put your arguments forth and let's have a discussion. Making vague statements like "its affecting your brain and the way you think" and "anyone can make out from your post that your brain is under some kind of spell of being ignorant" is a waste of time for the both of us. You, for writing them and me for reading them and trying to figure out what you might mean.

The truth is that we're all ignorant. What matters is how accepting we are of that fact and how willing to become wiser. So far, I think anyone can see that I am open to dialogue. If someone can tell me something about gaming that I don't know, I really want to learn it. But all I know right now is that some people here believe gaming is unhealthy without exceptions. Now, for me to see this (or even understand where you're coming from) I will need some more expounding and less vagueness.

I hope you can see that I am willing to learn. If I weren't, I wouldn't try to engage in a dialogue. I would just make as many statements as I could to prove that I am right. So, it's obvious that I am willing to be proved wrong. But the more I talk with others about the matter, the more I am convinced others are as ignorant as I am.

I see a positive change in your tone. I would suggest that if you think its not affecting you or your efficiency then you are good. My point was to make you see the bigger picture, not just gaming.
For example, I have been abstaining from all the sources of dopamine which I believe is not good for me for some time now, but yesterday I became ignorant and had tea in the evening, my brain got caffeine after weeks. I was up till 3am at night and in the aftermath I was not able to wake up early this morning, excretion cycle disturbed, skipped my morning run, overall efficiency disturbed reason being a mere cup of tea. Now my goals are different, yours would be different. What I am trying to say is that we are humans not animals. We can control our sources of dopamine by practicing simple disciplines on a diurnal basis. Sugar, Caffeine, Food, Sex, Porn, Orgasm, Masterbation, Nicotine, THC, Drugs, Sleep etc are all the sources of dopamine and so is gaming, you cannot deny this fact and overindulgence in any of these activities is self harming. Legendary people totally transmute their sources of dopamine to their desired domain, like athletes to their sport, artists to their art, scientists to their subjects. So if you are aware of this fact and want to make gaming as your domain then you are on the right path, but if not then it will have repercussions on your other myriads domains of life. Hope I made some point here.

It's definitely more clear to me where you're coming from now. Thank you for explaining. As you said so yourself and as I told the other guy in a different way, overindulgence in anything including gaming may have some harming effect. It's about the balance.

Also, as I already said, I got a blog. And guess what... it's about gaming. lol So, in my case, I definitely talk more about it than play because I love talking with fellow gamers about my passion. But still, people who don't do that and just play a game to have some fun aren't necessary harming themselves. We need to take into consideration that while most gamers are passionate about it because of what dopamine does to their brains, there are a lot like me who just love participating in a good story or have fun with friends. So, "fun" may vary in kind.

But I also understand why it gets a lot of bad rep. Most designers develop them to be addictive and profit from the gamers' ignorance about dopamine. That's why I am very careful with what I play. There are a lot of companies who have proved they're willing to offer something more than a sensory experience.

Closing, I want to say that as with any hobby, it depends on the person. We don't need the gaming industry to stop making addictive games. We need to educate ourselves about the subject in order to be 100% sure we are doing it in a way it doesn't affect our well-being negatively. If for someone, the only solution is to never engage in it, then I respect it. But that doesn't apply to everyone.

  5. It is unhealthy if it is not consistent and correlated well with time.

As I said; my life was drowned with gaming and that isn't all. Among many problems I had with the why I was on there every weekend from dusk till dawn, allowing time to pass as if it were nothing-was all the cause of something else, so if you'd like to take away my opinion I wouldn't blame you. Playing hours or even days worth of the best video game, which to me is Halo and always will be-could not match any memories of the fun I have had with others in person or speaking to people and building in-person connections. We all have our methods to happiness and the thrill of living life.

But with this guidance of NoFap I would recommend to not waste it staying indoors when you could be out having fun doing something that will make a memory. That will physically please you, we have different versions of pleasure so do not make me twist your thoughts. Do what you wish

You won't find me disagreeing with anything you just said. In my scenario though, it isn't between living my life and gaming. I can do both. And if I don't have time because I need to work long hours and see my friends or something, I will skip gaming.

It's not such a big part of my life. It was when I was a kid and didn't know better. But I won't blame it for that. I was just irresponsible with how I would allocate my time.
