After 2 years on NoFap and going back and forth...this time it is for real!

    I have been a member of this website for about two years now!! I have used porn on and off for about 10 years. It only became apparent to me a couple of years ago that maybe I had a problem when I realise that I would rather masturbate to porn then have sex with my girlfriend. We have since broke up and I have been single more or less for the last 18 months.

    I am enjoying being single and I have been with about 8 girls since then. But it comes in swings and roundabouts. Whenever I have a period where I am not with anyone or I go on a night out and don't pull I would wake up the next day and watch porn for hours in my sorry hungover state and then feel absolutely awful about it!!

    I then found that I would have more social anxiety in that following week, worse eye contact, more negative thoughts, and just overall poorer quality of life. The longest streak I have done is 30 days and that was just porn.

    Today is day 4 of no PM. I thought I would start this thread to keep track of how I am doing and how it is affecting me.

    So far so good. I have had a very positive week and feel good. The challenge is going to be this weekend when I go for brunch with my mates. This is where my good choices start fail, the more I drink the worse my choices that night and the next day. Obviously my intentions are great and I would like to think I can now make the right choices.

    Has anyone got good tips for how to stay away from porn when hungover and vulnerable?

    Don't get hungover, or just not too hungover.
    If you simply must drink alchohol, which imo is something you should probably also take a critical look at if that's the case, don't drink too much. Set a limit for yourself that you'll be nicely buzzed but not hammered drunk and won't get too much of a hangover. (lucky for you, some people have reported getting less severe hangovers when they're on long nofap streaks)
    When you do have a hangover, try to actually go out and do something.
    For most people pmo happens when they're bored, or are just being lazy and sitting around all day, not doing anything. Now whether you're hungover or not, that's a bad idea when you're trying to cut out masturbation.
    So have something planned, like hanging out with some friends, doing some couch gaming with them, things like that. Go outside and go for a walk, get some fresh air, will make your hangover less severe too. Take a cold shower to freshen up. Try some light physical excercise.
    Basically, don't wallow in that misery of a hangover, it's pathetic to just give up if you feel a bit bad anyways. My mom always said "cool guy at night, cool guy in the morning" if I had a hangover.

    Also don't get in the mindset of, "oh I have a hangover so I can't help but relapse". Your addict brain will take advantage of your vulnerable state and throw lies at you like that. Ignore them, and go do anything, read a book, play a game, go outside, anything, doesn't matter, except PMO of course.

    You have discovered that alcohol and hungover are triggers for PMO.
    You need to dial them down in order to move on. It will be easier this way.
    The less triggers we have, the easier it is in the beginning.

  5. Make sure you prehydrate before boozing, eat a meal, have food during the boozing, neck some water before bed. Look up Milk Thistle. Also, a pharmacist told me to have a Dioralyte before bed. It's a diarrhoea treatment that also rehydrates.
    Plus cold showers!! Learn to love them!

    First major test passed this weekend just gone. I took it easy on the booze. That's not to say that the cravings the next day were not there. They were and strong!! But I stayed strong! First step forward!
