Alternative Ways to Unwind

    I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder. One of my coping mechanisms has been to use porn.

    I'm looking for alternative ways to unwind that I can use in place of porn. So far I've thought up listening to music, using a coloring book, and meditation.

    I'm trying to come up with other activities that can be done almost anywhere and anytime, that don't require a lot of effort. I know things like exercise are good for me, but when I'm having a porn urge, the last thing I'm going to want to do is something like that.

    Stretch. Instead of exercising, just the passive part of it which of course helps the muscles relax. Something as simple as lying on your back with your legs up the wall and just staying there for a while. (you don't have to go that long but I've heard as long as 10 minutes for that one)

    So like any of those other things look up specific ones, try them out and see what works for you. Not all music is as good at relaxing, and you might have certain muscles that can use more stretching.

    Oh hey you can multitask with that too, be listening to music while you stretch.

    So not saying this is for everyone, but I've been finding watching Tedx talks to be helpful. They're often short 10-20 minute things that I find to be inspirational, even if I don't put into practice what they preach. I feel like they are able to help me shift my mindset from one of gloom and doom about the present into a more thinking about hope for the future.
