Who are the other people that think this group/forum reminds them of that thing called anonymous alcoholics? ( basically a place where alcoholics gather and share their stories and how much they abstained from not drinking, etc)

Alcoholics Anonymous was formed as a solution to help people recover from an addiction to alcohol. NoFap was formed to help people recover from addictions to porn and compulsive sexual behaviors. At their core, both are anonymous recovery groups. AA is a spiritual program which leads a person to rely on "God" by using the 12 Steps as a guide. NoFap seems to be more secular focused and does not specifically point a person to "God". There are religious and spiritual subsets in the NoFap community.

This is my take of it all.

Haha, I did not know about the "God" part

  4. Many are just scared because for example they came from a christian family, Porn is inside the sexual immorality (porneia) so they came here because God order them to do it and if they masturbate they are in sin, so, kinda artificial nofappers. Other search God during the recovery. But there is a lot of Christian fundamentalists that will blast you if you want to argue with them in the wrong way.

Well I wouldn't say they focus much on God on people to follow a particular God, they are definitely a secular group. But I kinda didn't like their teachings because I felt that they are brainwashing people to stay in their group forever. I mean as an addict you would want to forget your addictions and live a life without remembering about it. People who have benefitted from it don't graduate, they stay in those group and help others (which is a good thing), helping one or two guys as a gratitude is good but it doesn't work that way, they brainwash you to help other indefinitely. Also the rules are really hard to follow, I was more stressed following their protocols like making phone calls, attending meetings and stuff, lot of time was wasted. I'm not saying it's bad, but it didn't work for me, hope it does for you.
