Anxiety/Panic Withdrawal Thread

    Don’t be discouraged if you have to take meds to help you man. I never wanted to take anything for anxiety but the fluoxetine has actually been helping lately. I only had one short panic attack today! Things will get better man keep ya head up

    Legion7, have you talked with your therapist about what causes anxiety when you abstain from addiction? How she explains this? Why do we experience anxiety during the reboot process?

    Yes I have. I also have a masters in biology. Basically, the "wiring" in the brain pushes us towards certain "healthy" actions. To eat/find food, to procreate/pass on our genes etc. We are compelled by the brain to perform certain actions to survive. In the wild, dying animals, if they have time, try to mate with evetything, to pass on their genes. In salmon, it's a life strategy. When we use porn/pmo the brain thinks we are passing on our genes all over the place, which is a good survival strategy. It becomes wired for this. When we quit, the reward pathways (wiring) says "we need to keep passing on our genes". The brain tries to compel us to keep doing this. It activates several things to make us really uncomfortable, including fight or flight (anxiety insomnia etc) and desire to use pmo again.

    In a nutshell, lol

    BTW, slept like crap last night, but no anxiety attacks for 3 days. Stupid brain...

    What's crackin'? I agree with you all. This is my second time trying to go PMOless. One thing different that I noticed in this second attempt is sometimes I feel like Im going to pass out, specially at work. Like Im going to fall sleep if I try to concentrate on something. Anyone else has gone though this?

    I'm really dizzy, tired and lethargic, but haven't felt like I was going to pass out. Every person is different. All withdrawals suck...

    Yeah, one way I see it is when you finally get a break from these symptoms, you feel like a goddamn king for a day or two, that alone makes it worth it

    I got a break and then dropped right back in after 6 days. Kinda sucked because I was starting to get excited I was past the worst!

    My depersonalization episodes have been getting worse but my overall anxiety is starting to decline. Still not sleeping great hard mode again is kicking my ass

    Didn't help that the wife of 21 years is on a business trip. Not pmo problem, just that loneliness crap, and really used to having someone sleeping next to me. Anxiety is almost completely gone, but I'm watching for the first sign of a repeat.

    Oh, yeah. I totally forgot to say "that sux" that we have a shitty sleep competition going. yay. There's a lot of other things I'd rather be doing. Sorry man. They say it gets better. I'm banking on it.

    80 days tho. WTF? My moneys on I go 120+ before I feel human. I really hope you don't go that long. Suffering like we are, totally blows. I come here every day for inspiration. I fought off what could have bedn a nasty panic attack an hour ago. I think it's completely due to only getting 3 hours of sleep last night.

    I have some breathing techniques my therapist taught me for panic attacks and anxiety. If you want I can share them. They’ve helped me in the moment a few times

    It would be great if you could share them here...

    I noticed that when I get anxiety I usually start yawning afterwards. The yawning is very intense, few times per minute, sometimes I even get jaw muscle spasms from yawning. After that anxiety disappears and I feel tired and sleepy. I think it has something to do with the lack of oxygen in the brain. I was even thinking that oxygen therapy could help with anxiety and depression. Does anyone here experience something like this?

    I experience the same thing every time I have a panic attack or feel overly anxious. I start yawning uncontrollably.
