Hello, I’m currently 19 years old and I have PIED. I’ve been watching porn and masturbating since around 13 years old daily (anywhere between 1-3 times per day). I really want to remove porn and masturbation away from my life in order to cure my PIED and to hopefully get at least some of the benefits in which I’ve read about. After doing reading multiple articles, other people’s stories, books, and watching videos, I think I should do NoFap Hard mode as this would be the most affective for me. I’ve tried to quit before but get to around day 4-8 and relapse. I’ve taken higher measures this time by removing all dating apps, social media apps, avoiding playing video games, avoid any television with sexual images, etc. I really want to get through it but I’m unsure if I’m doing the most effective reboot possible? If anyone has got any suggestions on anything for me to cure PIED and improve myself as a person, I’d really appreciate any advice! :)

    Welcome!

Good for you for taking steps in the right direction! I know your journey will be beneficial in the long run.

When you begin your reboot process, avoiding triggers is definitely a good start. And as you progress to longer periods of time, your urges will naturally increase. It’s important that you show some self-compassion at that stage, and try your best to not feel guilty for having urges. Don’t beat yourself up. Be on the same team as yourself, and be supportive of yourself. Because as effective as avoidance can be at the early stage, you can’t completely eliminate triggers from your life. It would be unrealistic to expect that. Unless you’re living in a monastery, you will face triggers from time to time in your life. Long term avoidance only means you are looking outward, and blaming your surroundings for your problems. So while you reboot, try to focus on looking inward.

Avoiding triggers initially is a great way to start. But the key to long-term success (when you are ready) is to find ways to process the triggers. Understand how triggers affect you, and work through them so they no longer serve as triggers for you. When you are ready, you will know how to do that. Clarity comes with time and patience.

  5. Hi there!
I would recommend you to add meditation, cold showers and some exercise every day. In my case these habits are helping a lot, especially meditation, which helps you to be more conscious pretty useful when urges come. Also, every time that you relapse, try to analyze why you did it and look for solutions. i.e: if you relapse using your phone before sleeping then turn off the phone and leave it a different room.
    Hope it helps :D

Hey so I’m on day 40 right now bro, I’m also doing hard mode. To be honest, sometimes I see sexual images but most of the people on here would count it as a relapse or say it’s bad, but it’s really not depending on your addiction. I see the images on accident and be like “oh well, it happens”.

But I’m an 18 year old myself, a year younger then you and I started noticing benefits around day 30, I guarantee you that it does get better. There will be them days of ups and downs, but trust me it will get better.

In the beginning I never really had any urges for real and it’s weird because most people say you do but I never did, I PMO probably 2 and a half years with breaks so my situation isn’t as bad as some say. Every now and then I do have them urges but their not really that bad, I can easily control them.

The best technique is to refocus your mind. That'll make you forget about your urges, or you still feel it, but since you are to focus on your work, that urges not gonna catch you. You're in the zone.

My suggestions is thinking well of the fact that the serious forms PIED are not curable, it is also my case and many others that for years have not been able to heal. Are you sure you want to live alone all your life? Because no woman will stay with an impotent guy...
You will have no chance of having a family as a child , friends or someone who will love you. You will live alone as a dog . I think it is the best motivation if you think about being, I did not want to offend you but believe me
so it will happen if you don't do everything you can to get rid of it and heal .
Before relapsing, think about it. And if you don't listen to me in a few years, you will remember what I wrote to you. Success!!
