Any good Self Improvement site for men?

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by Deleted Account, Feb 23, 2020.

  1. Are there any good sites for self improvement for men that you can recommend. Along with NoFap I'm seeking websites that I can use to build up my character and improve myself.
At the moment I'm frequenting Return of Kings and the Art of Manliness.
Also using lots of youtube videos. I'm not a huge fan of the guys over at BodyBuilding forum, they seem pretty uptight with their workouts and calling each other out.
I'm not huge into MGTOW, most of their philosophy is pretty sexist towards women. Rather than learn to understand females, they call them out.

Would you recommend me a few more sites? Thanks.

MGToW is a strange beast, for sure - and that's from someone who was happily 'single and not looking' for several years in my 20s. For a group of men who have decided to get on with their lives and not obsess over women all the time, they sure do obsess over women a lot.

(kind of like all the porn chat on here I suppose.....)

What in particular are you interested in learning about? or just a variety? I also love Art of Manliness, it's focus on retro things and Dad-skills that our Dads forgot to teach us, etc. I also appreciate the focus on improving yourself for its own sake, or for the sake of your family, rather than the usual focus on attracting chicks and getting laid (as I am 3 years' married).

once you filter out all the 'PUA' stuff, there's a lot of gold to be found at 'Charisma on Command'. A big focus for me this year in improving my confidence, as I am one of these guys that is lively and confident with my friends and family but completely clams up among strangers.

'Good Men Project' is variable, but worth a look. A lot of different articles about different things.

'Steve Pavlina' is a classic self-improvement blog - he's good enough to have all his archive articles in an easy to find list because tbh his best stuff is 10 years ago. He is not afraid to take on bold experiments, and if you were ever curious to try polyphasic sleep, or an all-raw diet, but were too scared to start - don't worry! Steve did it for 30 days and wrote about it in detail.
Personally I much prefer his writing to his videos and podcasts, but it wouldn't be Steve if he wasn't continually trying new things...

Visit Universal Man by Mark on YouTube. That is like the best YouTube content because he himself is a recovering porn addict so he understands where we come from.

100% at the bold part. I am also interested in self development books and websites, not necessarily PUA but stuff that can help understand women better.

  6. I am very interested in this as well, I am not sure on websites but Zig Ziglar is one of my favorites. Very positive and focused on a balanced life. He's old school but I like it better. I feel like some of the new stuff is either like focused on the law of attraction, or some of the men specific (women specific for that matter) websites are a bit resentful. Not necessarily men specific but he focuses on a balanced life and does talk about relationships a lot, but not at all PUA, more like marriage friendship etc. (he was a Christian but his stuff is great whether you are religious or not, most of his books are not about religion. It's pretty cool back in like the 70s and 80s he was talking about how viewing porn would harm the self-image, relationships and all of this stuff, he pretty half of the problems we are seeing.

I forgot about ART of Manliness, glad you guys brought it up, haven't visited it in years. I think that may fit the bill in terms of websites. Seems like that website comes from a good place.

Actualized.org is a really good youtube channel. His earlier videos are more straight to the point, practical self-help content. His newer stuff really goes deeply into extremely advanced spiritual topics. You need to have a very good grasp of his own philosophy, philosophy in general, spirituality, and science to be able to understand the points he is making in these videos while also being able to remove some of the spiritual fluff that I personally think he has fallen for. Also depends on your own beliefs about the nature of reality. I would recommend starting with his older videos and working your way up, but do as you will. Just don't make the mistake of watching his newer videos, not understanding some of the terms he uses (that he explains in other 2hr+ videos), and making a generalization that all his content is useless philosophical rambling.

Another great youtube channel is Derek Moneyberg. He's a business guy who is probably one of the most blunt people I have ever seen. He'll tell you straight up that you're being a fucking pussy and you need to step up. If you like that kind of delivery then I would highly recommend him. If you don't, then I would highly recommend him. If you want to succeed in life you need to be able to learn from people who challenge your worldview and make you feel uncomfortable (to a certain degree lol).

  9. I don't like calling people a pussy. Its ridiculous. a pussy is someone who simply isn't equipped to handle a situation. He doesn't need to step up. He needs either learn, or be shown how to do it.
A friend of mine is a highly highly trained martial arts expert. He's not scared of anyone. Well, when you're trained at the level of an assassin no you wouldn't be! Pussys aren't scared they just don't know.

Why do you need a site to self improve. The best thing to do is get off these sites

I suppose what I was trying to say is that he isn't afraid to tell you when you aren't living up to the standard you've set for yourself. And whether a pussy is too afraid to handle a situation they want to handle or not equipped enough to handle a situation they want to handle, the fact of the matter is that they need to step up and start handling the situation they want to handle. A pussy is someone who makes weak excuses for not doing the things they want to do. They want to go to the gym, "but I'm tired, I had a long day, my boss was mean to me today." That's a pussy. Just step the fuck up and take fucking action. Simple as that. Whatever excuse you think is important has been overcome by someone in a far worse situation than you could possibly imagine who has gone to achieve the kinds of outcomes you could only hope for in your wildest dreams. Step up.

This is ridiculous. Why go to med school to learn to be a doctor? Why go to law school to learn to be a lawyer? Why learn from anyone to learn how to do anything? Simple, to cut your learning curve. I can spend the next 10 years learning how to workout effectively or I can watch videos from an expert and learn today. I can spend the next 10 years teaching myself the ins and outs of making money or I can learn from someone who has already made a few million. It really is that simple.

This is different. You can tell someone what they need to do in order to be 'succesful' and they won't do it. Half of the battle is figuring out how to get yourself to do these things that you know will be good for you. This is not something you can learn from a website. There is not a step by step process to 'self-improvement', you can not watch a few videos on youtube to self improve, you have to actually go out there and do it.

You have a point. It's very easy to trick yourself into thinking that idly browsing self-help websites is improving yourself. It isn't, it's only the instruction manual.

  18. I heard it can be a bit of a faggy website, but reddit. You might as well call that bodybuilding site YesFap. They're all a bunch of wankers. From what I heard, MGTOW is a fucking joke. Their purpose is to live a productive and fulfilling life without the distraction of women, yet all they talk about is women and probably nothing else.

They’re really not going their own way. Honestly if they just told people they weren’t looking for anything serious no one would give them grief about it.

A friend of mine was imprisoned on a manslaughter charge with no evidence after his girlfriend fell and died. She was an alcoholic and very frail. Another friend of mine was nearly imprisoned over false domestic charges. I agree there are misogynists in MGTOW however they are right about the unfair laws.
