I've always said that metal, in its many forms, helps me concentrate, psychs me up and what-not. It's awesome for sure.
Yeah, anything from the 70s is cool by me; up to and including the early 80s still fine. (Oh, the heady days of my mis-spent youth...) What did you have in mind?
I guess our definition of 'old school' is probably a bit different, but yeah, I'm basically comfortable with that label. Sabbath, Maiden, Def Lep, Judas Priest, and of course Led Zep especially (yeah!!).Ahhh, so you're old school? :') what sort of stuff? King Crimson, maiden, Sabbath, dream theater? I'm into doom metal myself.
All I listen to is Metal!
We have a pretty rad recent Metal thread here

Ayyy good choices!! Sabbath has a special place in my heart being the forefathers of doom.I guess our definition of 'old school' is probably a bit different, but yeah, I'm basically comfortable with that label. Sabbath, Maiden, Def Lep, Judas Priest, and of course Led Zep especially (yeah!!).
I should probably mention that I have a 22-yo daughter who likes metal (among other things), and she tells me about genres I've never even heard of. Glad to hear the metal scene is alive and kicking... even if all the good stuff was written by the mid-80s.
I'm 24 and I bet you I know a bunch of shit you've never heard of! I also used to think all the good stuff was in the 80s too and then I discovered that Metal is thriving well still in Europe! There's so much amazing stuff out there, you just gotta look for it.I should probably mention that I have a 22-yo daughter who likes metal (among other things), and she tells me about genres I've never even heard of. I exaggerate, of course. Some good stuff was still written in -86, maybe even as late as -87.I'm 24 and I bet you I know a bunch of shit you've never heard of! More seriously, though, I know that in places like Finland (apparently more metal bands per capita than any other country?!) they're churning out some pretty decent stuff still.
Metalcore... hmm, vaguely rings a bell, but not sure how it's different from schmetalcore? No, wait, Is Bullet for My Valentine part of that genre? (Not that I know much about them, just one of the names my daughter keeps mentioning.)They're a metalcore band so Rob probably wouldn't be used to that sort of music but I was absolutely mind blown.
They could be classified as such yeah. They're not really my thing though.Metalcore... hmm, vaguely rings a bell, but not sure how it's different from schmetalcore? I've seen a few Finnish bands, these guys twice. One of my favorites.I exaggerate, of course. Some good stuff was still written in -86, maybe even as late as -87.
