    Hi,

I have been dealing with excessive PMO since i remember.
    Am 26 y.o.

Right now I am dealing with Communication issues, I can't process anything easily on my brain, memory loss, foggy brain, My learning skill is down to zero, I am always inside of my head and can't focus on anything around me, i subconsciously focus on one point and go into deep thinking, Am depressed and review bad memories in the past and can't control them.

any food or any specific brain and physical excercises or anything that can help me bypass them besides nofap would be very much appreciated.

Greetings Marcus_belbi! I also have been aflicted in the same way as you are now. Can you give us more info as to what have you tried up until now?
From what I have read in the past, meditation might help you), cutting down on junk food and sweets, working out and getting a decent amount of sleep. Below I will write a bit about my experience, read only if you desire.

The thing is that I've tried to change my diet( I tried avoiding junk food and sweets, also included broccoli in my dinner xD - read a study on ncbi that it naturally boosts your testosterone), I also tried going to the gym 3-4 times/ week ( I always loved the idea of working out yet there were moments when I just couldn't go due to a busy schedule or upcoming exams) - I had read that by increasing your fitness level you might improve your memory but it didn't really help, or if it did, it doesn't compare to what nofap is currently doing to me.

I have had a bad case of brain fog, I hadn't realised it unfortunately until my first year of college. Although I did not do horribly I could see how hard I retained information and how hard it was for me to make myself understood as in, I couldn't put into words what thoughts I had in my mind. I had also observed that even small talking at times became quite difficult as I couldn't find the proper words to make myself understood.

Now after doing nofap for 30 days I could both see and feel the improvements. I retain information faster and also speak in a more fluent way as in I don't stop every 10 seconds to recall exactly what word I meant to use. ( it was quite amazing since I noticed while I went out with my former deskmate and the conversations we had on different topics went pretty smooth from my end)

Hi Marcus, thank you for sharing with us. I am not a professional coach or psychologist, so I can't ensure this is going to work. I want to suggest two approaches.

First approach, create tiny victories in your life. Don't directly aim for too many good habits at once, going to the gym daily, running, eating, etc, especially if you don't have the energy or willpower. Some people here may have high fitness levels, so it's unfair to compare them to yourself. Tiny victories could be as simple as a small walk outside of 20-30 minutes, 5 minute meditation even if it goes really bad, writing a small journal, creating a plan for the day or the week. Little victories give you a feeling of selfworth and confidence, especially when you are taking care of yourself. The body wants to be taking care of in a nice way, the same way you would treat a friend. If you see your friend at home all day, you'd say come let's go for a walk together. Or if your friend has been eat junk food all day, you'd say let me make you a healthy meal. It's the small actions that will start creating big actions, day by day, week by week and month by month. Also perhaps, aim for half a day without PMO, than a day, than a week. Don't beat yourself up, if you can't make it. Be happy to you have accomplished something, that normally you wouldn't.

Second approach, if most of the advice doesn't work, you might need professional help. I have seen the same in my vicinity, no matter how much we tried to help, my friend would'nt be able to conquer his weaknesses / despression without help from a profesional psycholgist. Combing the first and second approach is even better.

Regarding your food question, it all depends on what you like to eat. Just google "health recipes" + "your favorite ingredient" or "favorite cuisine" (mexican, mediteranean etc).
Regarding your exercercise question, it all depends on what your current fitness level is and what you enjoy: running/ yoga/ football / basketball. It should be something you like.

    Best of luck Marcus!

At the beginning, after my brake up and heart broke which left me a mess, I felt so depressed for half a year and would little to nothing. The first step I also took was trying to make my bed. Even if you had a bad day, there is no better feeling than finding your bed all made up when you come home. TrainingGood made an excellent point, small victories incorporated are the way to go.

  6. If the PMO is the only reason for that brainfog etc. then it will take sometime of abstaining until the effect reverses.

However i've had similiar experiences that you've had which were mostly caused by inadequate food and lack of physical exercise. I needed to change from foods which are conventionally considered good for health but were not for me. But since the topic is so broad and i'm not a professional, it's hard to give any advice before i know more. Some basic things which benefit the brain is good quality fish oil, magnesium and eating raw cruciferous plants, and of course ditching harmful stuff like sugars and such.

I know what you are saying brother... I only once could reduce it to 3 oe 4 times in 3 months and the results were perfect... I had massive energy and strength in my bodybuilding and my brain functioned perfectly.
the thing is that there was always a person in my life that made me put it away and i could never do it for me alone....
but if you go into NoFap your body generally heals 90 percent of your problems imo.

thanks a lot for the useful answer.
actually i found someone else suggesting this method which is also useful:

    1. Yoga daily(1 hour)
    2. Awareness to myself(Looking into myself what I am doing)
    3. Meditate daily(even if it is 15 minutes)
    4. Cold Shower everyday
    5. Getting out of my comfort zone
    6. If I am getting bored/urges come into picture -
      1. Go for a 30 min walk
      2. Sketch something
      3. Read books
      4. Meet my friends/new people
Things I am removing from my life when I am alone-
    1. No Social Media(Fb … )
    2. No television, Films or Internet Videos(just for fun)
    3. No Internet Surfing for fun
    4. No Alcohol
    5. No video games
    6. No Sleep in the Afternoon

It usually depends on the person. What I've experienced is that healthy productivity by doing things I enjoy makes it easier to relax. Abstinence would most likely help as time moves along, but I've heard dieting, exercise and practicing mindfulness through meditation is good. It seems like you're doing most of this so it might just be time. All together, take this advice with a grain of salt.

My first experience with nofap was also due to a special someone, I had PIED and the only way I could get rid of it was nofap. Now after that dreadful period after the brake up, I am doing this for myself. You have us here, maybe we can beat pmo together? :)
