Anyone had a hydrocele surgery?

I have a hydrocele on one of my testicles for a very long time, probably since I was an infant. It's not too big and not painful, but it does look ugly, so it's one of the reasons I am afraid to be intimate with women. I had sex only once, and I was able to hide it by dehydrating myself (the hydrocele is connected, so it gets smaller when there's not enough liquid in my body), but obviously, I need a long-term solution.

Did any of you guys have a hydrocele surgery? What was your experience? I am really afraid of any kinds of surgeries, so I ask because I want to reduce my fear by expanding my knowledge and talking about it.
