Anyone here quitted social media?

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by Deleted Account, Sep 29, 2020.

  1. If you have quitted social media can you tell me how it made you feel? Do you feel like it affect positive or negative? I'm thinking about quitting social media it hasn't done me any good! All these girls want me to relapse at least feels like it!

  2. When you quit social media you just focus on your things. Fuck those girls showing off their body, they don't deserve your attention.

It all depends on how you use it, You should quit these shitty social media websites for sure if your job is not related to it. However if you are just starting [it's my personal opinion and new strategy] stay on the internet but use it for entertainment initial for first couple weeks.
If I am gonna stay offline, I will get thought and under pressure I might break my streak again, so this time I'm gonna use it for entertainment only but no social media websites at all. Just movies and I am very particular about what kind of movies [no bold series at all].
Apart from that Meditate and do a plank challenge if you can't workout or many 10 pushup and 10 squats on alternate days. Divert the mind but don't put too much stress on it.

me personally I quit social media because I also wanted to focus on nofap, it helped me tremendously because there wasn't any temptation whatsoever. The only time I use social media is through business and self improvement influence purposes thats it. I never check any of my social media anymore well at least not when I need to like for school and whatnot. But bottom line is the reason why I quit it was because like porn, seeking likes and approval from social media gives you that dopamine high and if you want to improve with NoFap you gotta take out everything that gives you an instant dopamine high. Plus social media is a bitch, I mean it's cool and all, but I just think that everything I see in it is little to no help at all, basically just nonsense bs about seeking approval from other people, and always posting just to get likes and shit. Like fuck that I'd rather work and have something going on in my life that will lead me to greatness. So in my honest opinion I think everyone should learn to quit seeking approval and likes from other people through social media, cause it's not gonna do shit for you. Work on yourself, and work towards greatness THATS IT. The only question that remains is that "if it were that easy would everyone be able to do it?"

I stopped using Instagram it's been a month and I feel good because I gave most of my precious time just looking at models which was purely waste of time if you want to grow just uninstall your Instagram and go to work but if you're using it for business purpose then no problem.

    Just ask yourself these questions:

    1) Would you die if you stop using Social media?

    2) Would world end if you stop using social media?

    3) Would you progress if you use social media?

If all 3 answers are no then it's high time to quit it.....

There are many good source for entertainment, I prefer reading a book or watching a movie if I have additional time.

  6. Yeah, basically the same thing I said! Is this your first streak?
My previous one was 13 days, I recently discovered the NoFap actually.

  7. Same for me, man! Excellent questions.

I quit Facebook & Instagram, which I had been planning to do for quite some time. I mainly used those to browse through what my friends & acquaintances were up to. And guess what... I don't need that information at all. Not to speak of all the distracting crap that the algorithms spread in between those posts. Nowadays, if I want to know what a friend is up to, I'll send them a message and maybe go see them. I haven't regretted quitting, and the first time I found myself in need of Instagram again was only about a month after quitting, when I wanted to know what a favourite band of mine was up to. I'm not ready yet to reenter Instagram for these kinds of things, though, so I'll just suck it up and go without those sweet backstage photos.

Quitting social media enables you to channel your desire for meaningful social interaction into actual meaningful social interaction, in my opinion. As with any addiction, you'll have to be careful that you are actually replacing the old habit with something new and not just letting yourself crash into the void that the absence of the old habit is leaving. I've found that to be easier with social media than with porn, which I'm also using as a substitute for meaningful social interaction, unfortunately (at least, up until this point). But I hope you'll manage to do that step, because you most likely won't regret it!

No it's not my first streak, it took me a year to complete 29 days.

  9. I believe using Social Media for wasting time is extremely bad, but that Social Media can be used to one's advantage if they use it that way.

  12. I have quit facebook, instagram, snapchat, even threw my phone out. I feel really, really good. I'm free to do whatever I want. If I want to, I use PC, I go outside, play with dog, cat, read, do my thing - shadowboxing, pushups etc. It's all there. No worries about social media bullshit.

5 minutes per day of Facebook/ Instagram with time managing apps ,
Unfollow the girls and pages that triggers you.

I think this is a good approach because in daily life social medias have a relevant importance ,
so i want remain in touch with the thought of the world

  14. i quit a couple times in the past and rn i'm 3 days without social media.

At first for maybe 1-2 weeks, I found it boring and you really need to find activities to replace the time you use on there. I notice I'm on nofap a lot more actually w out them.

After that you feel good, it gets rid of a lot of loneliness and anxiety but also because you're talking to people less you are less in touch with current things and you might notice that. It gets rid of the focus on girls too and makes you focus on your goals and where you want to go.

Once you redownload it's kind of depressing, I wrote about why in my journal.

Agreed, monitoring time spent here is important. Nothing is more addicting than the slot machine social media apps though: Instagram and Facebooketc.

Since quitting the three apps above I’ve been on my own adventure with my goals, productivity and task management. Ive also gotten closer to my immediate family and closest friends. The only thing I plan to do is to use Facebook only and cut everyone except maybe 20 of my closest people (family, closet friends, acquaintances that I actually care about) just to have a digital photo album somewhere.

I only got 1 social media app now which is Youtube, and it’s easier for me to regulate content with it + I haven’t done a deep dive, but I think it’s harder to see models or bikini shots lol.

Facebook is practically dead to me, but I still keep it around because of my best friend and our messages/gaming schedule-

Youtube is now getting a new extension so I can restrict the feed, I can no longer deal with the torrent flow of vids it recommends me, it´s a trap.
