True. I remember sitting around with friends and we'd play split screen games on the old xbox or ps3/ps2. Just imagine a group of friends playing games together with a couch or futon everyone engaged and interacting. Laughing, enjoying each other company and socializing. Or the same group of friends probably still having somewhat fun but not nearly as much as the first group. The only ones paying attention to what's going on are the two people playing, the rest are on their phones and unengaged. They'd rather show people outside of the interaction what they're "doing" than sit and have fun. I don't know but to me the former sounds a hell of a lot more fun.

God I love your comment. I agree so much. I don't regret searching for music though lol what I regret is the social media and time wasting. Back then we only texted people on messengers like aim and that was usually when we were home alone not out with friends. We need to be social again. Back to the early 2000s, those were some of the best years. This is sad to say but I think the world was a happier place then.

  3. I absolutely miss the pre-smartphone era. In fact I also miss the days when most people didn’t have internet. I guess I’m lucky that I at least got to experience the ‘90s because the 21st century sucks.

I think not having the internet and smart phones is a big part of the reason why the 90s rocked so much. Everyone was alive and connected. The socializing and creativity and vitality was so strong.

As a kid at the beginning of 2000', I still caught the vitality and magic of the 90'. The new technology mixed well with outdoor activities. Everything was so full of life compared nowadays...
People have become so empty and shallow.

God amen to this. I’m so glad I’m not the only one that thought this. People nowadays look so dead, fat, depressed(me included) and tired. There’s no vibrant energy anymore. Back before major apps and social media. I’d say during the myspace and early facebook days was kind of the peak and after that it just went downhill and it’s still going.

  12. Narcissism, porn addiction and social media addiction, in my opinion, are all connected. Everyone knows how easy it is to access the dark side of the internet and fall back into PMO when you have portable internet. It's like having an alternate life in a second reality.

For me, destroying my smartphones (better to format and sell them, I was angry so I broke them... could have made some money back...) has helped me alot on tackling my porn addiction. Reason being I was surrounded by alot of toxic people, who only distracted me from my goals and dreams.

When you have to be on the computer because of study or work; Porn blockers are a must too.

100% agree. People are more into themselves these days. Not everyone but a vast majority and being consumed by the system of control via the internet. I admit even sometimes I still get sucked back into this addictive reward system vortex.

Not sure how many of you guys catch the train to/from work but take a moment to sit a watch everyone that is totally consumed by their smartphone. I have set a goal this year to read a book to/from work on the train. This trains my brain to focus on one task (reading) instead of allowing dopamine reward system loops on subconscious autoplay decide what rubbish to feed me via my social media or news feed.

I do see the negatives of people getting lost in their own phones, it's yet another thing people can get addicted to, just like opiates and other pills. Sucks for them and sucks for you. Only thing I can do is better my life, keep establishing my beliefs and keep trying to find more people like me.

  16. I see it all the time. You guys should watch this video how the developers of Facebook,Google, Instagram etc. are using manipulative tactics like colours etc to make someone addicted. It goes deep. They even admit it is morally wrong. But hey, it made them successfull and that's what counts.

Dumb, Reality Disconnected, all key words/ especially disconnected. That's how we've all become. We aren't as interactive with the real world anymore and so we aren't living like we used to. I would adhere the growth in depression and anxiety to be a result of this epidemic.

I hope we'll eventually see what this is doing to us. It isn't absolutely bad now but it will be. Hell I actually think it's incredibly bad now. The moment something isn't stimulating enough for us, say a part of a movie or video isn't as exciting and michael bayish people start referring to their devices to keep that high that's now built into their regular lives. That's not how we should we be anymore. We've wasted the last 6 or 7 years with this. I hope we can find our way out and stop using the smart phones so much.

  20. I'll go one further. I miss life before the internet, or at least the commercial internet.

It seems like the world has become less varied and more consolidated. Very corporate. And lonely.
