It seems like the majority of the people in this forum are lonely whether they’re in a relationship or not.

I think that PMO have big impact about loneliness. Before i started nofap i can't resist two days to be alone, even if just two days i didn't hang out or seen any friends i will be depressed or feeling bad or like my life will end.
After i passed year of nofap even if i go just to my job which i hate and don't see any of my friends for months and i don't have a girlfriend i feel very fine,my opinion and experience.

My experience has been the opposite. Feeling lonelier than ever on long streaks while oblivious to loneliness when immersed in pmo addiction. Congrats on one year of nofap by the way!

Yes and no. The circumstances and situations vary from person to person.
In my case i was never good with people or social cues, PMO turned that up to eleven and turned me into more of a social recluse for quite some time.

  5. Because they have emotional baggage that needs to be dealt with.
Porn addiction/masturbation addiction isn't caused by loneliness. Loneliness stems from you not being able to form proper relationships with partners, friends or family or it could be all 3 and it is generally a symptom of depression.

Porn addiction/masturbation addiction is also mostly a symptom of depression because during depression the chemical balance in the brain of a depressed person is unbalanced and what does watching porn and masturbating offer? A dopamine high. I say that it's a symptom of depression because a lot, and i mean A LOT of people report that their time spent watching porn was usually when they were depressed. There are a few cases of people who aren't depressed but have a porn addiction due to their unusually high libido's.

To me, loneliness, porn addiction/masturbation addiction is a symptom of something that is much deeper that needs to be dealt with. People like blaming porn/masturbation when in reality they should be blaming themselves for not dealing with the inner problems that they have until they realize just how problematic it all became.

    Also the case with me.

  8. There is a hypothesis, with some evidence, that all addictions are founded upon a lack of meaningful connection (bonding). Not necessarily loneliness — some people can be happily alone while not feeling lonely, and some people can be surrounded by people and yet feel lonely. As @Trying21 illustrates, there are many people who aren't at all lonely and yet are addicted.

It used to be believed that drugs themselves were addictive and the cause of addiction, but that has been disproven. There is always some problem that underlies addictions (of course, the addiction itself causes new problems and worsens existing problems).

See the addiction documentary by Kurzgesagt and the TED talk by Johann Hari.

While I feel that meaningful connection is vital, I don't believe that it tells the entire story. After all, it begs the question of why a person doesn't have meaningful connections in the first place.

Note that this applies to all addictions, not just PMO.

Your best bet, as I tell everyone, is to get the right type of therapy for you. And, of course, to persist with NoFap and especially with not using porn!

  9. im a 25 yo virgina and yes, it is the result of loneliness. also, wet dreams are caused by premature ejecualtion due to never having had sex to toughne your dick up

  10. Wet dreams are caused due to sexual inactivity/abstinence, not premature ejaculation.
Premature ejaculation is caused by psychological and biological factors.. a person can have abnormal hormonal levels which can cause him to prematurely ejaculate, he could be stressed/anxious and could cum very early.. It has absolutely nothing to do with the strength of your penis, i highly recommend you do your research before stating such things.

p.s Kegels can help prevent premature ejaculation and porn/masturbation addiction isn't the result of loneliness, it's a symptom of depression.. or you're hypersexual(very high libido).

  11. that might be the case

dick has muscles in it that can be exercised during sex

  12. Your penis doesn't have muscles, your penis is made up of blood vessels and spongy tissue.

If it were a muscle then i am pretty sure any human on earth with a penis that is insecure about their penis size would be exercising the living shit out of their penis to make it as big as an elephants trunk.

The only exercise happening during sex is the physical movements of both partners.

  13. it moves, therefore is has muscles dude.

  14. The penis isn't a muscle, there are no muscles inside the penis, it is made up of spongy tissue and blood vessels.
Every person who has paid attention in biology class during high school/university knows that the penis is made up of spongy tissue and blood vessels.

You may be mistaking PC muscles with your penis. Your PC muscle strength can influence how hard your erections and how your urine flow is. Improving the PC muscle can promote better urine flow and can improve erections because your PC muscles can promote better blood flow to your penis.

I've done biology in my senior years of high school. I've studied the anatomy and I can guarantee you that the penis isn't a muscle, it isn't a cartilage either as many people have been led to believe, it's just made up of spongy tissue and blood vessels. I mean you could find this information on the internet, I didn't need to since I already knew because of high school but I've made it easier for you.

    Getting back on topic...

I, like many here, found porn at a young age and made using a habit well before I knew any better. By the time I was ready to start forming sexual relationships, I was already suffering from PIED. I occasionally feel lonely, but I believe it's because of my addiction and not the other way around. I'm generally a happy person, so once I get a handle on this, I suspect these feelings will eventually go away.

  16. Ok, PC muscles are exercised from sex

In my case, the addiction and loneliness went hand-in-hand. Originally I was just a curious kid who started distancing himself from others partly due to my habit. As time went by, I became more and more lonely and would relieve myself by indulging in my addiction. Which in turn, would keep adding to my isolation. They were basically feeding each other.

  18. If that were true, everyone who is lonely would be PMOing, and everyone who isn't lonely wouldn't.

But, there are large numbers of lonely people who don't do this, and large numbers of non-lonely people who do.

Addictions don't happen just because you're lonely. They happen for other reasons.

  19. most of them do

not that large lol. most lonely men are porn addicts.

I started when in high school and i was far from alone back then, and i continued doing in while in relationship. So no, it's an awful and way too easy accessible drug. I can't belive more states ban porn.
