Are real women like women portrayed in porn? -Mild trigger warning-

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by Ray Breslin, Nov 7, 2015.

  1. This is what porn does alright... It makes boys believe that the most important thing in life is having a big penis, ejaculating a lot and looking like a fitness model in order to have success and a partner. On the other hand, it makes girls believe that they should have large breasts, all the make-up and act in an erotic manner in order to attract other people.

It's showing. Kids are wondering how to make themselves sexier, they're thinking about making out like how making out is portrayed in porn, lots of screwed up things are going on because of porn.

Not trying to be harsh and offensive, but that's the nature of porn and it's affecting more people than we can think. Are women like how they're portrayed in porn? To generalise such things is too much, but basically the answer is "no", unless they're affected by porn just like most guys are. If 100% of humanity consumes porn, then it'd be like a no-brainer, it's like asking fish what it thinks about water.

The actors themselves exist, but they often have to go through intense ordeals (surgery, risk of infectious diseases etc, constant medical examination.) to maintain and attain expected body image.

Basically it boils down to genetics, you either have it or you dont, for example actors are handpicked from a pool of probably very mediocre people, they are real people who often had different backgrounds before applying or being 'talent spotted' by people in the industry put out in the field and guys who know a guy who can whisper in the ear of another guy etc.

I could sign up right now with a job application form to a independent studio with low standards and drudge it out with the lowest quality of work presumably, the hyper realistic people only get so far up high because of what they sacrifice too (peers, public image etc). Not to mention that its a full on job, that is both physically and mentally exerting.

They exist out there, but in many cases you wouldn't want to meet them anyway, as often beauty is power, and its easy to get drunk on that and inflate self imposed worth.

Yeah porn is very unrealistic. There's nothing wrong with being adventurous in sex and trying different things with your partner - but a big part of what is portrayed in porn is all about degrading the women.

The whole standard routine in porn, where you have intercourse non-stop for like 40 minutes rotating through like 5 different positions - not how it actually works. I mean I guess it could, maybe I'm not the norm.

I'm sure there are lots of people who have sex like you see in porn. But... if you meet a girl who likes it when you choke her and smack her around during sex and then wants you to cum on her face - probably not a very healthy, high self-esteem person you want to spend a lot of time with.

I remember someone saying that in a video, porn just just filmed prostitution. The reality is that most porn actresses, and actors too I'm sure, are broken, dysfunctional people who have incredibly sad histories of abuse and trauma which led them down that road. To decide that what you have to offer the world is to have sex on film so people can masturbate to your image - that's an absolute tragedy.

And they make it out like it's from a hotel room or someone doing a home made videos but in fact it's all part of the porn shit. Found out that the hard way.

i used to watch a lot of gay porn n they affected my fantasies. what started as two guys making out turned to bdsm n gang bang n other violent porno stuff which also influenced my fantasies very much. n it made me feel like dirty afterwards. immense self-hatred.

Something I don't understand is how the focus is on the women - only. How about the men who have to perform in unrealistic and degrading ways? :( How about all the guys on the receiving end of "intercourse non-stop for like forty minutes rotating through like five different positions" and much, much worse. Spare a thought for abused men also. :(

But men are disposable and women are always wonderful in our modern feminist culture of the west. So that's the main reason the focus is all on the girls - at least from the standpoint of them being the victims of pornography. Women want to be treated equally but not when it comes to having the same level of moral agency and responsibility.

Absolutely, all the guys involved in the porn industry are just as broken and traumatized people deep down as the women are.

The porn industry is portrayed as this big machine run by cruel men who get rich exploiting poor, innocent girls, but that's complete nonsense.

Nothing new about these kind of double standards though - A man who beats his kids is a monster, a woman who beats her kids is stressed out and overwhelmed. Right?
