Visited Albania this week! It was a hiking trip in Albania's Accursed Mountains, where I stayed in guest houses at the foot of the mountain. Each day the hosts packed me a lunch of a small loaf of bread, a tomato, a cucumber, strong feta cheese, and some cured meat, and sent me on my way on foot or by shuttle bus to the start of the hike. The hiking was varied, with some hikes going through verdant pastoral valleys and others through brutal grey peaks, but with beautiful vistas throughout. I met a few other travelers along the way which was always welcome as I tried to decipher the trail route and figure out which way to go next. I found the local people I encountered friendly and helpful with advice, and was always happy to arrive back to the guest home each night tired and inspired by the scenery.

Just got back from an interesting trip to Algeria. It was a challenge getting a visa, the upside of which was travel to a country with very few other tourists and local people with a curiosity and interest in meeting me. I enjoyed using the little french I know and everyone was patient and generous with their time as I struggled away with it. The highlights were wandering through Algiers and viewing the mix of French and North African architecture, a couple of nights spent in the vastness of the Sahara, and viewing the expansive Roman ruins of Djemila and Timgad.

 

Today I have been porn-free for 8 weeks.

 

Its 4 days and marching on 5th. Eager to start my first trip.

 

Tomorrow at noon I will have 60 days. I look forward to seeing the next country!
