Hello everyone. I hope you're doing OK.
I've been a member of this website for almost 3 years now. I've had quite long streaks like 72 days but have never achieved a 90-day streak. It took me a long time to finally realize counting days won't matter if you keep spending your days in the same way. The things you do MUST change and a substantial part of it is removing triggers(for me it was social media especially Instagram). One of the mistakes that I used to make repeatedly was relying merely on willpower. I didn't change a thing in my lifestyle or how I would spend a typical day. There were some provocative shit in my surroundings that I never bothered to remove and whenever I relapsed I would ask myself : why did it happen? I keep a daily journal no matter what and that has helped me a lot. It was my new year's resolution to keep a daily journal this year and so far not a day has gone by without it, I am happy to say. In this journals I learned a lot about myself and also rebooting process. It's really personal and I won't go into details but I think you should try keeping a daily journal too because it helps you to hold yourself accountable. In retrospect, I know I would still be the same person if I hadn't taken the time to reflect on my successes and failures. I promise if you do this daily and ask yourself good question, the answers will appear out of thin air. I've read some nice books so far that has helped a lot, like Pema Chodron's books and the Artist's way by Julia Cameron. I think if you hold yourself accountable and be honest with yourself, everything else will fall into place naturally. This won't go away overnight because this addiction didn't emerge overnight either. You learn from each relapse and you get better at this in the subsequent efforts. Good luck guys and thank for taking the time to read.
