  1. I love that! So true, and a great way to look at it. I'll remember that one.

haha that's a great example, although I love dissecting frogs  But I see your point, for sure.

  3. I just remembered another really great book I've read. Kind of a specific target audience, but maybe there are some here who would enjoy it.

It's called "100 Careers in Film and Television." In my opinion, if you're at all interested in working in film, but you don't really know much about the field, this is totally a must read. It's really insightful and shows you a lot of things that happen behind the scenes that you might not have ever realized.

Books are the greatest gift to man! To be able to journey into the minds of Shakespeare, Hemmingway, Steinbeck, Ben Franklin, Voltaire, and Lincoln (to name a few), live with them even though they have passed many years ago, is sweeter than other sensation. There is an intense pleasure when you really get into a book... It is labeled in the arabic language "istimtaa" which is the same word used for describing an orgasm.
An author spends months to years on writing a book, when we can read it in a couple days or weeks. The quickest way to my heart is a good book. They provide so much comfort...
A funny personal quirk... when I go to a place with many books, I get the intense sensation that I want to read them all and gather all the pearls. My warning...There is a lure to reading and gaining info...but real wisdom is application! Here in lies the major problem we have today...We know a lot of stuff/information, but we don't have application and wisdom. May we all be granted application and wisdom!

My last book was "The mastery of love" (Don Miguel Ruiz). A wonderful book about how we should concentrate on essential things, and be proud of who we are ... I recommend it to every Fapstronaut !

Now reading "1984" (George Orwell), it's really fascinating.

Favorite book: War and Peace by Lew Tolstoi. It's an epic, but realistic tale coming from a compassionate mind.
Currently reading: The World is Sound: Nada Brahma by Joachim Berendt.

Im reading Harry Potter and the Halfblood Prince atm. I'm a slow reader and am not the type who reads all day long. I haven't read many books so i guess my favorites are those so far or LOTR, but they are a more advanced read

I have just finished reading Status Anxiety by Alain de Botton, it is about how we see ourselves compared with each other. In particular, how our achievements and our lifestyles compare to those of our peers. We seldom compare our standard of living to our ancestors, but if we did we would only realise how fortunate we are. I highly recommend this book to anyone who considers themselves to be the jealous type, it offers a fresh understanding.

De Botton is quite a well known philosopher and has written a number of books on a broad range of topics. The other book of his which I have read is The News: A User's Manual. In that book he explores the power of the media in the 21st century and how we respond to it. Again, I have nothing but praise for this book.

De Botton also has a YouTube channel, The School of Life, which has recently uploaded an informative video on porn addiction (note: this video does contain some sexual imagery).

I am currently between books, but I think I will read Quiet next. This is a book I have been meaning to read for a while, and which has been recommended to me by a number of friends. I work in engineering and so myself and many of my peers are very introverted. I hope reading this book will offer an insight.

Currently reading 'No excuses' by Brian Tracey, it's a book about self-discipline and seems pretty good. Especially for nofappers it should be interesting.
On spirituality I recommend Eckhart Tolles 'Power of Now'. Changed my life.
Bruce Lipton's 'biology of belief' contains great knowledge about the subconscious mind and how it works, written by a scientist.
If you want to know a lot more about the brain, the forming of habits & that kind of stuff and aren't afraid of some science, get books that adress "neuroplasticity".
