Fapstronaut
It starts with waking up, eating, & playing games all day.
It ends with playing games then going to bed.
With Nofap you need to know something, Like me you've gone down a dark path. You may think that Video Games is your Lantern for getting through this path, but really it's just something that makes the path longer. It makes your end point further & further away. Like PMOing it's an addiction that can & will cause problems.
Another way you can think of VGs like any other addictive substance. With control it's not a problem. However I don't have control. Like P it takes more and more time from you. You may think "I'll only play for 2 hours or so" but now your at 2 hours & say "one more game". One turns into two, two turns into three, three turns into four and so on. You keep doing it until you look at the window & it's daylight.
What if you want to quit? It's like PMOing your so used to doing that you just do it naturally. You can't control yourself, you want to stop but you just can't. Well there's two options. Either keep fueling whatever is controlling you other stop. Get rid of it, add blockers uninstall it, control yourself. Like Nofap it takes time, and with times urges & habits will change for the better. With time you'll want todo different things, with time you'll enjoy more then just your computer or console.
What if It's the only way I can hang out with my friends. Well in this case I support it. Why? well it's simple. With friends they have limits, with friends you have to think about others. Other people get tired other people know when they stop. And when they get off you get off. Simple as that right? Well with that it means that you have self control, it means that you know when to quit & when to stop. When your alone your alone & aren't being controlled by others, your on your own.
What if you want to make VGs your job? What if I want to go professional? Well, Like me some of you are younger (around the 13-20ish age). We are at an age where we start to make choices that permanently set our lives. If you are set in stone that you want to play video games for the rest of your life that's your choice. But if you want todo that you need to put an effort forth. You aren't going to make it unless you put effort to making content better. Whether it be learning to edit videos, making a practice routine (and sticking to it), Identifying your profile, figuring out how you can do it. Of course this will take time, but if you put an effort into your stuff & practice more & more. You will eventually succeed. But I will have to say, if you plan on this you should look more into how professionals practice. Eventually if you practice to much you'll play worse & worse. Doing that will burn you out hard. If you want to create content look into how much time is needed to make the effort todo it.
What if you don't want to stop? What if you think VGs are art ? Well once again I can agree with you. Kind of. If your talking about like Ori or other games similar to this Yes I totally agree with you. FPS games, TPS games, etc. There's the problem. Microtransactions, Gambling, Mystery packs, all those fun stuff. There's the problem. All of those fun things causes the thing that keeps us going, dopamine. The thrill of winning a games on CSGO or seeing the hit that you could get for unboxing or getting something good hits like a truck. You get a high & you want more. So you keep going losing money every single time. Until eventually you run out. So you sell the stuff you have so you can get that high. You start to look at gambling sites, deposit your skins, sell your items just to get another hit of dopamine. Why? The thrill of getting something good. The thrill of you hitting that slim to none chance.
I'm starting to sound like an anti gambling ad & that wasn't what my point is.
What my point is that if your like me your facing an uphill battle. An uphill battle toward a better tomorrow & trying to fight against a PMO addiction. With this addiction you call upon your allies & rely on them to keep pushing ahead. But some your allies real goal is to just betray you & push you further down the hill.
Call this post what you will. A hate against what you love, a wake up call, a preaching to a crowd that just ignores. Agree or disagree with me. I don't care. It's time to change myself. It's time to brake this Cycle. It's time to turn this loop that your stuck into a straight line towards freedom.
If I manage to even make you think "Maybe I am spending to much time on VGs" congratulations, your on the first step to solving this problem. Your on the first step to Braking the Cycle.
