It draws attention to that aspect of a person and in doing so biases the perspective towards that lens. People start thinking in terms of that particular condition rather than, well, the human condition - if they ever appreciated how vast that is in the first place. It seems there is way too much reductionistic thinking in recovery whether it's traditional or the reboot effort here. One layer of media addiction, which is of course the more general level of porn addiction is just how people have their attention herded, it's no wonder people are still struggling with this since the basic mechanism is not recognized and there's little practical awareness of how that works.

 

I've noticed this as a common thing nowadays in society. If you take a stance that might resemble the stance of a particular group, they just lump you in with them. In the political area I've had this happen countless times even though I'm bipartisan.

 

I agree with what the people above me have posted. What personally baffles me however is when I see people who are surprised about there being sexually frustrated people on the site who maybe act in a strange or maladjusted manner about it. Its like they have stumbled across the forums without seeming to understand the very obvious overlap between people recovering from sexual dysfunction/porn addiction and people who are angry/frustrated at their lack of ability to get sex. It seems staggeringly tone deaf and callous to call someone an incel in a place like this.

Having said all that, I know exactly why you made this thread and honestly, you should just ignore people who comment in threads you make that dont contribute anything meaningful. I've tangled with some of the commenters in your other thread before and its just a waste of time. Hesitant to say anyone who acts like an obnoxious jackass on the site is a troll, but some people are too irritating to be worth dealing with.
