I don’t necessarily know if I’m addicted to porn because I don’t feel that it’s taking up a huge portion of my life (usually I view it once every two weeks), but I also know that it can get very worse and have more harmful effects. I joined this site in order to find others to talk to. I’ve been keeping this to myself for years now and I need an outlet in order to keep me on the right track. I don’t think recovering from an addiction can be don’t alone which is why I am grateful for a site like this where I can be honest to others and myself for the first time. Does anyone have any tips as I start nofap?

Yeah I was like that in the beginning just watched it because I was bored but then it took over my life 10+ years and now I’m really serious about quitting PMO because it’s really hurt me

  3. First of all welcome to NoFap. I'm currently reading YBOP (Your Brain On Porn) which is a book that states studies and stories of the effects of porn on the lives of males and females. The side effects are staggering. To tell you the truth you kinda have to find your own method of staying away from porn. I found the best way for me was to remove as many negative things from my life and replacing them with positive new hobbies and activities. For example I stopped playing video games as much and started reading and going to the GYM instead. This site isn't only here for the purpose of quitting porn, It's here to help those struggling get help and find new positive things to replace all those negatives in life. That's my recommendation. I also highly suggest you start with cold showers. You'll hate the crap out of them at first but eventually you'll see the amazing benefits that come from simply changing the temperature of water.

You have to start looking at the positives in life in order to understand why we have negative days. This journey will not be easy but it will be worth it once the battle is over.

Fwiw my top tip is to keep coming here and start a journal thread. It helps you to see how far you've come and if there's any patterns or triggers that make it harder. It also means we can all cheer you on and offer (occasionally useful) advice. Good luck!
