I'm about a year in. I had a really severe addiction combined with stimulants, so it could take a while I suppose

  2. I think YMMV is as true is it gets.
There are many factors how severe an addiction is/how your're enviremate constitues itself etc. All these factors have an impact on how long it takes for you until things get easier.
    Stay strong brother

  3. "Reboot" is different for everyone.
For me personally, I just focus on today, because that's all there really is...namely right now, this moment.
We are all so fucking goal oriented all the time, everything is "performance", but sometimes it is better to just do nothing, yes, that's right, NOTHING!
Absorb, experience and observe. Contemplate and meditate.
Be easy on yourself and RELAX.

Short answer: yes, recovery can take longer than a year. Depends on how you define “recovery.”

If you’re talking about strictly physical symptoms, I would think a year is enough. If you’re still experiencing problems you need to look for more than P as a cause. If you’re talking about using P as a maladaptive coping mechanism for a deeper psychological problem, more likely in a self-diagnosed P addict, simple P denial isn’t going to do the trick. First of all, congratulations on spending an entire year being clean while suffering your primary trigger; you are a beast of a human and those who propose that willpower is not a thing should tremble in your presence, lest you crush their theories with your mind alone. Second of all, you should probably see a mental health professional about that coping mechanism if you can, and if you haven’t already. And even if you “resolve” those problems, you’ll still always be prone to treating yourself with that flawed mechanism. It’s just like the alcoholic’s psychological dependency. You’ve taught your brain how to abuse that tool, it will always be an option and there’s not ever going to be a safe way to use it. On that note, no matter what, I don’t think we’re the kind of people who can ever reintegrate porn into our lives in a “healthy” way. I personally believe P is never “healthy” or accepts but some clinicians disagree.

If you’re still unhappy with where you are at, consider looking for medical professionals who can be sympathetic to your position & consult with them.
