I'm 29 now, and have bated PIED for years.

I've had extremely long streaks and suffered alot of erection issues.

My question is, can your dopamine receptors truly heal, or can there be permanent damage?

  2. I think we underestimate just how much the body and the brain can heal. But even if there was permanent damage, I’d rather become the best I could be, physiologically speaking.

Are you still having sex? Are you edging?

  4. Complex question but remember that mega addicts have recovered. It's also complex as we need to have realistic expectations – I keep thinking that nofap is going to make me horny all the time like I'm 18 again, but it probably won't. I don't know what to expect as my libido has been terrible since tube sites existed. I'm in my thirties now and I don't know what a normal libido is like in your thirties etc.

I do truly believe you can heal incredibly well but as I've learned recently, edging, porn substitutes – all of these things need to go and you need to commit to it if you want your dopamine receptors to heal. I'm finally starting to see some good progress. It's just so slow and annoying that I too, like you, question it often.

All of these symptoms I'm experiencing are proof that my brain is changing.

What keeps me going is that there's no other solution IMHO. I don't believe in big pharma's solutions for this.

We might just be extremely slowwww rebooters, as annoying as that is to hear.

How long has it taken you to see progress and what kind of progress we talking here?

I stupidly edged yesterday but this is after months and months of another streak.
Libido has been high, I do get sexually frustrated but often don't do anything because my GF isn't interested and I don't want to masturbate.

Until yesterday I've been very clean all year.

    Yes still having sex.
Only edged yesterday for the first time in well over six months.

  7. DIfficult question to answer. I had more energy, focus, and happier within days of starting it, literally the next day.

Morning wood coming back took a few weeks. Libido bubbling up took many weeks. Had sex and it went ok after a few months but any relapse really messes things up. it feels like jumping a few weeks back.

Sex might be fucking you over, but I am not 100% sure on this. I wouldn't know. Don't edge though.

No doubt about it. If you can stay true to your nofap goals and avoid porn, you can achieve great progress even in a few months time. Godspeed.

It took my husband 4-6 months to start seeing any improvement and then once we cut out sex entirely he completely healed. So he had 6 months then we went 52 days no sex at all and that did the job. If he resets with either porn or masturbation it effects his erections a lot! A lot. He had pied from age 45-50. He is 54 now and erections are harder than they have ever been in our marriage.

During the 4-6 months, did he cut out sex entirely too? If not, what did he cut out?

When we first started recovery we did not want yo cut out sex. So he only stopped porn and masturbating. But, he was struggling with chasers, and not really seeing a lot of improvement. That’s when we decided to do what our csat had originally advised us…. Cut out all sex. All special stimuli. So I didn’t even undress in front of him. Nada, nothing. No sexual touching or joking. We are trying for 90 days but I could only hold out for 52 days, lol we had sex then went another 50 days. But that was what worked for us. Huge changes from that day on. Biggest changes have been the last two years.

your gf should really be supportive, you jerked off instead of being with your girl, consider a new relationship or none as she may not have your interests at heart

I believe in my experience they will. Ive notice as ive healed that video games are a lot more boring now. I hardly play. When I used to fap a lot I could game for like 12 hours a day. Now I can hardly play for an hour without getting bored. Video games also are related to dopamine release. So I feel if your receptors are healing you'll notice a change in your habits
