Can't even do a week of no PMO

Lately, there has been a lot of changes in my life, and it's been impossible to try to attempt another PMO streak. My longest ever has been 39 days straight, but ever since that I've lost motivation to do any better. I've gone back down to 30 days, 2 weeks, and then back to PMOing every other day. What happened?

All I can say is that in 2014 when I first joined Nofap, things were a lot different. I was more motivated, but I didn't had a lot going on for me, so I guess my stress level wasn't as high. Now it's the opposite. I'm working full time, got out of college like a year ago, and I'm planning to move out. Although these are all positive things, the only bad thing is that my porn addiction has gotten worse due to all of the stress. How can that be?

Is anybody else experiencing the same thing? I'm also wondering how is it that some Fapstronauts are doing 30, 60, or 90+ days without PMO while I struggle with just a week. How can I progress in other areas of my life while maintaining a good streak of no PMO and approving my porn addiction at the same time?

  2. You have to have a strategy and tools in place. Willpower is finite. What’s the plan for when it runs out? What good habits are you replacing porn with? Coping tools for dealing with stress/anxiety/fear/boredom?

But I'm not a Super Saiyan, I'm a Namekian lol. But yeah, thanks for putting it in a different perspective. That actually helped a lot. Even though PMO seems impossible to overcome, I shouldn't lose hope nor should I give up. I love Dragon Ball Z by the way, and Guko is one of my favorite characters besides Piccolo haha.

Now that I think about it, I don't really do much except work full time and spend the rest of my day at home. Plus winter season is about to end, so I couldn't really do much with all that snow around a few months ago. Having said that, I should consider some hobbies, and I actually have a few in mind once spring time comes. The only coping tool I can think of is working out, but I still get lazy here and there. I guess this is something that I have to figure out on my own, but I least I have an idea of what I can do to stay extra busy.

Well there ya go. Only person stopping you from progressing is you. None of this is rocket science.

And I'm talking about PMO only. Not other areas of your life.

  12. You have to have a plan. I will do ____ when I feeling fapping. You need to have good habits for self/care in place. You need coping mechanisms for dealing with temptation.

Mate don’t be too hard on yourself. I’m 28 now and it literally took me 15 years to manage enough willpower to stop myself from PMO. Before this my longest streak was maybe 12 days at most. I wasn’t even making an effort to stop fapping.

  14. Amen brother. After deciding to quit I’ve relasped over a dozen times, even once after a 100+ Day streak. Shits hard.

  15. You’re perplexed by this? Overcoming this addiction is about replacing it. If all you’ve done in the past is avoid pmo then it’s no wonder you’ve gone back to it to sooth and relieve stress. You need to replace this stress reliever with another one.

That is one of the biggest lessons you can learn when it comes to addiction. All of these people with long streaks are just ticking time bombs if they haven’t been using this time to replace pmo with another habit. That’s why I never envy anyone’s streak on this site.

  17. There is a secret to beating PMO, and that is, to make the consious decision in your heart to never do PMO again! It's simple. The reason you keep relapsing constantly is because you just don't wanna do NoFap. You may be wanting to do NoFap, but your not putting enough effort into it!

Just like what @Chris said, you can't just not masturbate, you have to be doing other things. Exercising is a good start, but that's not enough. Start doing things like reading, meditation (this will do you wonders, trust me), playing an instrument, etc. Having hobbies and interests will benefit you a ton! You should also consider socializing (hell, even getting a partner) which will benefit you as well. There's many other things to consider doing but those are just the major examples.

These are the reasons why I've never relapsed once in this journey! It's not only because I have motivations to do NoFap, but also because I have hobbies and interests. Hopefully, you'll take my advice and never give in again, simple as that!

  19. I'm right there with you @Namekian23 . I have the same issue myself. @Chris is right (I don't like saying that, I kinda don't fancy that guy grrr!). The issue we're facing is not having a strategy. Another issue, an underlying one, is that sometimes you feel like you're pulling stuff out from a hat, so you end up getting involved in things you really don't enjoy or don't care about (ironically, it takes some of your time, so you don't PMO during that time, and also, afterwards, you're taking responsibility for your actions and feelings, so you feel angry at yourself and couldn't give a shit about porn in that moment, LOL!). So, there's a strategy in all of us, but we gotta make it more noticeable and make things work for us. It's our body we're talking about. Our health and well-being. I relapsed today, but I am so glad that the feelings of guilt are present (which they weren't since the very early age). I get the feeling like I'm about to puke and I don't even want to see another sexy guy on instagram or youtube. I delete all the videos from my PC and I'm actually starting to get angry. A lot. I am so bloody tired of this presenting itself as a soothing pastime in my mind.

Which brings us to the other side - what do we enjoy and what can we pursue without feeling bored or aggravated? I know it sounds ridiculous to some, but not everyone is aware of things they might be good at and that might be fun and healthy for them. @Namekian23 - is your job unfulfilling or just the life at home? If you can do 39 days, you CAN DO MORE THAN YOU THINK! I admire you for reaching more than a month. All that time, your mind wasn't craving it as much, but it was also your will power, trust me! The biggest high for me is when I get that burden off me, and start over, refusing to leave NoFap alone. It's like in that moment, I feel a certain freedom, like I was really nauseous and finally puked all over the place. Such relief in that very moment. Like a big "fuck you" to all that stuff.

You just named the top four, big priest! Stress, anxiety, fear, boredom. All the time, whenever I'm around other people.
Stress, anxiety, FEAR & TRIGGERS is precisely why I can't go to the gym until I sort myself out.

Sorry if this all sounded like a rant. I really like the topic. And this stuff should always be discussed since we all go through various phases and need help from time to time.

@Namekian23 know you're doing well. Coming here and thinking about this stuff, not letting it pass you by, shows that you care and want a way out, you want to solve this issue, giving it many shots. Goku is love.

I hear what you're saying, but I'm trying to trying to replace my pmo habits as we speak. One of my biggest stress relievers is working at Walmart. I get to enjoy plants and help customers in the lawn and garden center, and I even have a degree in it. However, when I come home it's a different story. One thing I do know is that I don't have too many friends nor am I interested in other hobbies that are outside of my comfort zone. Having said that, this is my biggest challenge. I need to find a way to get out of the damn house and found something that catches my interest. I even thought of joining a gardening club or bowling.
