I am very frustrated with being unable to sleep. I only slept maybe 4 or 5 hours. Got up, needed bathroom. Laid back down, not getting back to sleep. Talked out loud for like an hour (sometimes helps me clear my head) and nope didn't work. This is in reboot because it's what I go through during reboot.

I am pretty careful with my habits. I make sure to exercise AND stretch AND even foam roll during the day. I get off the computer to wind down around 7 or 8. I eat no sugar or gluten. Actually I eat only centered foods.

So I decided to just come on the forum. But I needed support on this or to hear from others who relate because it's too much for me. I really want to be able to sleep and before you say, well, maybe all you need is 4-5 hours now that you're not doing PMO. That would be a convinient thing especially for a workaholic like me. But, No, I doubt that is the case. I should be sleeping but there is something wrong causing me unable to.

I have trouble sleeping for more than 4-5 hours, and then I need a nap during the day sometime. I have disabilities but still would like to get a full night's sleep. I have had this problem even when I was fapping. No PMO has been great in my life with my gf.

Thanks. Yeah I gotta stay off PMO. Good thing for the forums. I give up so many times over this. Just so frustrating. I feel like the forums existence helps me make it through. And going to them. Thanks.

So far I didn't get back to sleep. Sun seems to be coming up. Its Sunday so I could sleep any time of day. I just wish I'd sleep "normally". But I don't control it.

  4. The insomnia is real, man. Just last week I had a total of 9 hours sleep spread out through a five day stretch. It was brutal. The anxiety definitely doesn’t help things. My coworker gave me some ambien so I tried that...all it pretty much did was make me trip balls. One of my pillows looked like a angry polar bear head. So I stopped taking that lol! What seems to help me for some reason is putting on old cartoons from my childhood....(in my case he-man)...It relaxes me. I don’t get great sleep but I’m back up to 4-5 hours a night.

Thanks @Tiger uppercut! Hmm cartoons. I have found winnie the pooh comforting and land before time. Good idea.

I'm trying not to watch DBZ because I have difficulty controlling myself. I just watch clips for hours.

Thanks for sharing. Yeah the insomnia sure is real. I have to address the actual causes instead of medicating with PMO now.

  6. Insomnia is something most of us go through. I seem to remember a bout of insomnia right my second or third week. To begin with, I wouldn't worry about it. You'll get the sleep you need eventually, but worrying about not sleeping it makes it worse. I shared this breathing technique in my journal yesterday. It sounds like all the weird home remedies my grandmother used to go on about, but it works for me. Try closing off one nostril and breathing in through the other nostril. Switch the nostril that you have closed off and exhale your air through the other nostril. Then, repeat. In through one nostril. Out through the other. Make sure you take deep breaths, so that you belly rises when you inhale. Start with a set of 10. I use this if I'm having unwanted urges or even intrusive thoughts. I'm fully aware of how silly it sounds. It's not like mystical experience or anything like that. It's just that there's something about focusing on breathing in this type of way that clears your mind of everything else. Usually, when I'm having a bout of insomnia I find that I'm slightly manic and my mind won't stop racing. This helps to clear it. Try it; it might work for you too.

Thanks :) I like Unilateral Nostril Breathing a lot. I can't do it due to rotator cuff problems. My rotator cuffs start burning at the slightest amount of having to hold them up. Is it OK to do in and out the same nostril? I will experiment with something to see if it helps hold my arm up.

yeah :( Thats my story... I feel like I do everything they say. Im off caffeine, sugar, and gluten. I dont use TV past 7 or 8. I meditate, go for walk each day, stretch. Its like WTFWTFWTFWTF...

One guy said eventually we'll get the sleep we need... I feel like my body should be sleeping so often because its gotta restore energy from all the PMO. Like 9-10 hours a day. But it wont... even go to sleep! :(

I have extended experience with insomnia as i suffered from it for almost 10 years in chronic ways. If you don't sleep it has nothing to do with NOFAP.
You should sit on a chair for 20 minuts, relax 10 minuts, then feel your mind and body to take the temperature so to speak. Then ask yourself : how do i physically feel? how do my mind feel? how does my energy feels? You will probably discover tensions, mental agitation, anxiety... Those are the things messing up your sleep.
Work on becoming aware of them and releasing them, while keeping an attitude of non-resistance towards insomnia, of letting-go, because if you don't you will fuel your insomnia.
So just let go, rebalance yourself, and things will quickly improve.

You already have some amazing advise here! but let me add one more:

I have managed to sleep better since I discover about "melatonin", which is the hormone that regulate our sleep cycles.
Our body adjust this hormone in response of daylight, or light in general, thats why smartphones and screens mess with our sleep paterns.

You can buy some melatonin pills at the drugstore. Be aware that this is a natural hormone your body produce, so its not in any way like taking sleep pills. It doesnt have side effects. Read and learn about it to make your own conclusions.

I dont use it in a daily base. Just when I really need it or when I want to adjust my cycle. I heard this is the best way.
I buy the 5 mg pill and cut it in 4 pieces. 1/4 works well enough to get sleepy for me. 1/2 put me to sleep in about 15 mins
I just have done the whole pill like 2 times... infallible. I fell asleep without even switching the light off...

I think that what have been said here is basically "don't watch screens before you go to sleeps cuz that can mess up your sleep"
