Casual sex is as bad as porn

  1. I know where you're coming from because used to think like that but I disagree now. You don't have to disregard it. I think saying that is like saying you have divorce your wife because she annoys you. And anyway, the Bible never claims to be the word of God.

Did the writers write it perfectly? Do we read it perfectly?

If they have biological urges, we have wet dreams for that to sub, and wait for the right partner to sex especially with your wife or husband.

Wrong, the Bible does claim to be the inspired Word of God, and yes, it also claims to be written perfectly. (Otherwise not everything they wrote would be inspired by God):

    All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
    2 Timothy 3:16

  5. Really? You really think the person writing a simple letter to a church Ephesus considered his letter to be scripture? Wouldn't he have been writing about the Torah? Would you consider a letter from any Christian to be the word of God?

Even if he's talking about himself he doesn't use the words 'word of God', he says 'inspired by God. There a big difference that's something being inspired and something being someone's word.

  6. Faith is definitely important.

What I think is beside the question, because the Bible itself already defines Paul's letters as Scripture:
...just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. - 2 Peter 3:15,16 (Here Paul's letters are categorised as Scriptures, i.e. "Paul's letters and the rest of the Scriptures")

In the biblical context there is no difference. It's the intended message that matters, not the choice of words. This passage also clarifies what "inspired" implies:
But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. - 2 Peter 1:20,21

All, this topic has been derailed by a religious discussion. Please stick to the original topic. For a Christian discussion, please go to Catholic Fapstronauts or Christian Fapstronauts groups. For and Interreligious discussion, please go to that group. Continued religious discussion in this thread will result in moderator action and thread lock.

Don't want to get myself in trouble but I'd like to point out that religion is very relevant to the original topic.

  10. I think what Sparky want's to point out is that that statement doesn't apply for non- or liberal religious people and the focus shifted too much to the religious aspect while the discussion about the rational aspect of the impact of casual sex got snowed under.

On original topic: I will never procreate and I very often feel an emotional connection with the women I have casual sex with. Therefore, casual sex does not equal porn to me. I respect that other people have other views on that but I prefer not to be condemned for my views :emoji_hugging:

As per the forum rules, the main forum is secular so that all can use it. Users who wish to have religious discussions can do so within the Interreligious or the specific religion group forums. This decision has been in effect for many years and had mitigated arguments on the site.

Correct. The only times that persons of faith are directed to use the religious forums are when they are discussing religious matter.

I think I've changed my mind on this issue and will use casual sex to rewire my brain to sex with 3d women.

I thought about what I want out of this whole nofap experience and it's for my penis to work. Ideally it'd work with a woman I love and am married too, but until then I need sexual release. Porn is off the table forever, and strippers/prostitutes seems much worse and expensive than casual sex.

If I can do it in a controlled manner it should also help with the rewiring process from 2d to 3d sex. Having multiple partners in quick succession still seems counter productive, but I think finding a couple fwb could work until I find Mrs right.

I also posted a few pages back. I tried playing devils advocate to prevent the thread from getting derailed. It didn't work but I did convince myself.

Perhaps not, and that will be my cross to bear should it become an issue. I've just been in similar situations before where I set up an impossible situation and what happens is I end up caving under the pressure and end up worse off.
