So, a few months ago, I was talking to my cousin about nofap and explaining all the basic concepts. So, when I told him about rebooting and that it takes around 90 days and people report amazing benefits around this time, he asked me a question. He asked, "So, exactly what will happen after 90 days? Will my urges just go away?"

Since I myself have never reached 90 days, this question was like a catch 22 for me. If I said no, then he will get intimidated by the task of managing his urges for the rest of his life and if I said yes, then he will get scared that he would never be able to get it up.

So, I mumbled something about how your brain gets rewired after rebooting and how you realise that you are better off without mastutbating. But, it was a diplomatic answer and I could see he wasn't convinced.

I know that if someone isn't motivated to stop, we can't make them. But, still how would you have explained nofap and rebooting to a complete beginner if you were at my place?

90 days is just a rough estimate. It is not like once you hit that 90 day mark it is all unicorns and rainbows. Depends on the individual and how long you have been in PMO. Some people may take longer. Personally 120 to 180 days maybe a better yardstick because hitting 90 days was a psychological boost for me to carry on because the urges came back in force in that time.
