Cell Phone With No Internet Inquiries

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by thatsingleindividual#K-13, Dec 13, 2019.

  1. So, I'm writing this as a step for self-improvement, I just need some help in the right direction.
I have a cellphone, a Samsung Galaxy and it has internet on it. I get my mom to cut the internet off of it every month but after the billing cycle, it cuts back on. Usually around this time, I will binge on porn because of the internet coming back on my phone. Lately, I've been thinking about finding a cellphone that has no way of accessing the internet, that is, there is no internet or internet options at all on the phone! I really just want a flip phone. Now, a lot of people are saying "Good luck with that?" Seriously, are there are any cellphones made without internet access? I know I'd have to buy one that is ten years or older but I'm open to suggestions. I was thinking about the LG Xpression. Does that phone have internet access?

  2. I have a Nokia 115. I bought it on Amazon for $20. Works great. And great design.

Otherwise you can get a cheap second hand iphone and activate the parental control. You set it up to have no internet and no access to the app store. Once the parental control is activated there will be no way for you to access Safari or Chrome. And you won't be able to download any apps since you won't have access to the app store.

  4. I've played around with this concept a lot. I've tried feature phones, contracts with no data, etc.

The thing is, smart phones are incredibly useful for maps, WhatsApp, email, etc. It's better if you can keep it.

There are three methods you can explore if you want to keep your smartphone. In order of difficulty:

    1) Porn blocking apps. Some people swear by these, but I always found them trivial to bypass and thus pointless.

    2) Root your phone, and then uninstall all browsers. You'd also need to uninstall the Google Play store so that you cannot re-download said browsers.

    3) Root phone, and then modify your systems host file (I can provide more details if you were interested). This allows you to block specific websites rather than a blanket internet ban.

Note than rooting your phone can be a risky business. Absolutely do your research before attempting this.
