    Hello everyone!

I was hoping to get together a group of Christians seeking to live the NoFap way of life! I’ve struggled with PMO consistently for nearly 5 years now, and I am motivated to quit so that I can build my testimony of the Savior. I’ve found it very difficult to do alone, as it is impossible to stay motivated by yourself 100% of the time.

I was thinking that we could create a group chat and could give each other updates on our progress every single day! We could all get to know one another and help push each other through the cravings!

Message me back if you are interested, I’d love to get to know some of you guys!

  4. I'm a pastor. I want to quit porn. I'm 30. I've had a difficult time controlling urges since about age 14. Used not quite porn (tv, movies, pictures, fantasies) up until about 5 years ago when I started looking at internet porn. Been looking more lately. I need to quit.

    Anyway, I'd like to join.

He estado buscando más últimamente. Necesito renunciar

De todos modos, me gustaría unirme. [/ QUOTE]
Que bonita tú sinceridad, pastor tú puedes dejar el PMO, no tanto por tu iglesia sino por tu vida, bendiciones, saludos desde Colombia.

    Day 2
    Hello everybody!

Upon talking to some of you guys individually, it became clear that perhaps this thread would be the preferred platform over texting or GroupMe, which is perfectly okay with me. If you guys collectively decide to change to another platform we can do so.

I was thinking that maybe we should all frequently share scriptures in order to stay motivated and committed to this cause (as temptations are bound to arise). Also, any personal stories or insight about this addiction or about Christianity in general would also be highly appreciated!

I love you guys, and I hope we can learn to rely on one another to overpower our addictions!

I guess I will start out with a scripture. This one is a fairly obvious one, but it is extremely pertinent to our situation.

    Matthew 5:28
"But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in her heart"

I just would like to testify that purifying our lives by shutting out PMO is ordained of God, and that we will feel the influence of the Holy Spirit much more in our lives as we strive to become more chaste on the inside.

I'll leave you guys with that, and just remember that if you ever feel like you are going to relapse, come talk to us. We WILL convince you not to :)

    Thanks!
    -Warren

  7. I love that you're a KJV guy even though I am not.

Jesus is setting some high bars in Matthew 5-8 (Sermon on the Mount). He's interpreting the Law and fulfilling it. The repeated pattern is: "You have heard it said..., But I say to you that..." The but I say to you part is usually going to the root cause and sets a more difficult (impossible?) and higher standard.

5:27-30 as a whole is quite interesting.

"You have heard that it was said, 'you shall not commit adultery.' But I say to you that everyone that looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away; it is better for you to lose one of your members than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away; it is better for you to lose one of your members than for your whole body to go into hell."

The tearing out your own eye and cutting off your own hand stuff has always struck me as a bit harsh, but bears truth in that if something you are doing or something in your environment is causing you to sin, you have to cut it out. You can't take it with you to glory. Cut it out.

Praying for you all this morning. God loves you.

  8. So I've gone a full day. Here is my check in. Are we trying to check in each day on this thread? We starting a private conversation on the site where everyone checks in? What's the plan?

    Day 3

Today went well, I had fun at church and hanging out with family

I wasn’t able to create a private conversation with multiple people, if one of you guys know how to you can create one with everybody on this thread.

    Matthew 5:14
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid”

Keep being examples, it benefits society as a whole and helps people feel the Spirit that you will have with you!

Hi, just checking in. I failed yesterday after struggling so I'm starting over today as Day 1. Hope everyone is doing well. I think prayer is helpful in our struggles:

Luke 22:40 "When He came to the place, He told them, “Pray that you will not enter into temptation.”"

    Here's another good verse:

Romans 6:12-14 "Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its desires. Do not present the parts of your body to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and present the parts of your body to Him as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace."

A bit about me... I'm 31 years old and Andy is my nickname. I've been a true born again Christian since 2008. Previously, I had overcome porn for about 10 years before falling into it again last year. I thought I had overcame it for good and that I didn't need to worry about it anymore... That's until I accidentally saw a video that set me off down this path. So, don't ever let your guard down, whether it's been 1 year or 10 years.

Wow Andy, I find your 10 abstinence from porn to be inspiring! I would love to be able to say I was clean for 10 years! That means you know what it feels like and can strive for that again.

I'm doing well so far this week. I have found that the temptation is the strongest in Friday afternoons and sometimes in the weekend. When I'm busy throughout the weekly grind I am fine. Because of that I will check in been more on Fridays. Also, feel free to call me out! I like that kind of accountability.

On the note of communication - I am fine with staying in the thread if you guys are. That is the best way to remain anonymous to others in out personal lives. However, I'm open to ideas and suggestions.

I wanted to post a quote but am having trouble pasting on my phone. I'll share an awesome C.S. Lewis quote later.

Fun question - what denomination are each of you? I am Lutheran.

    Day 4

Okay day, today I mostly did homework and hung out with my friends from church. I’m starting to see the value in hanging around people who share the same morals as you.

    Luke 18:24-27
And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?
And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God

Many people claim that Jesus set impossible standards, and that NoFap isn’t worth the stress and effort. However, I know that these standards are very possible if you learn to rely on the grace of Christ and his Atonement. I also testify that this world has a ton of good to offer, and that when we set aside PMO we can emotionally connect with much more than we would otherwise.

    Hey all
25M Christian here. Engaged to be married in 10 months.

Raised Catholic but often identify more as Christian. I do take my faith seriously and go to church, even though I don't quite know what denomination I fall under still.
Had minimal success quitting PMO for the last decade. Last year especially was difficult for me. Hoping to change things around.

Today is day 1 for me.

I've been doing daily readings and today's comes from 1 Samuel 16, where the spirit of the Lord rushes over David and Samuel anoints him. Earlier the passage is also about making a sacrifice. Abstaining from PMO is our sacrifice today. How I wish I could go back to a time before my addiction, so that I could be humbled and innocent before God.

P.S. I have GroupMe and WhatsApp. Would love to get a group going, but I realize that I have little say in how to communicate, seeing as I'm a bit late to the party :p

    Stay strong brothers.

    Hi everyone,

I am a 23M in a committed relationship. I have been struggling with off-and-on addiction to pornography. I am looking to gain the wisdom necessary to repent and overcome lustful desires. And yes, it is an every day commitment in itself. Thank you AndyA and everyone for your honesty and Koalifications for opening up this thread and encouraging forum.

This last week I have been led more by my flesh than the Holy Spirit. I tend to sin mostly in the mornings. I sinned this morning. I usually wake to my roommate getting up at 4:15am readying himself to head out for his ROTC training. I anticipate for him to leave the room to have some space and freedom to relax in the morning. But I think the anticipation in itself is unhealthy, possibly linked to a similar anticipation of my younger self waiting for my parents to sleep or run errands away from the house to engage my flesh... One step I can take to overcome this behavior is to shower and ready my bag the night before as to depart right after my roommate -- or honestly just get up when he wakes me up and acknowledge him -- as much as I don't feel like doing so sometimes. And place my phone out of arm's reach, ideally by my room door far away from my grasp.

Remember all, knock and keep knocking, always be prayerful, and no matter what guard your faith and don't shy away from asking for wisdom!

    James 1:2-6
"2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind."

Hi AuMMYGI. Thanks for offering to open up a WhatsApp or GroupMe group. I'm very willing to join if/when you make a group chat available. Would it be alright if I send you a message when I can? I think for the both of us we have to wait 1-2 days before that option becomes available.

Hello everyone! I consider myself a non-denominational Christian.

I had a tough day. Stress + Being Tired + Being upset made me fail again. I'm starting over at Day 1. I seem to be stuck in a pattern of failing every couple of days.

Hope everyone else is doing good.

1 John 1:9 " If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

    Hi AndyA,

I was researching some scripture today and came across Romans 7. It really demonstrates the core of the problem. I think we all would benefit from really reflecting on Romans 7:7-25. Here is the main point of reflection in verses 21-25:

"21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, I myself with my mind am enslaved to the law of God, but with my flesh I am enslaved to the law of sin."

Galatians 5:13-26 reminds us that today we are to live by the Holy Spirit. Quoting verses 16-18: "16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law."

We can overcome by the grace of God.
