Cold showers bullshit

    I would see dopamine being the last thing that would make you feel bad after a warm shower. Its not even comparable to the dopamine you get from MO or PMO

    Sure it's not comparable to the amount released when pmo - but still, you get my point that there might be a connection between showering and feeling bad.

    Note that there are many interesting articles regarding warm water on your skin and dopamine.

    I'd like to point out that this conversation would have gone different if you wouldn't have "lmao"d at my thoughts which pissed me off a bit. Take it as a feedback for your self improvement as I will :p

    I take a cold shower everyday after the gym. I feel like a shiny new car. It's good for my muscles and boost my testosterone levels.

    Personally I've been taking cold showers every day for the last two months, with no intention to stop. I generally shower 2-3 times a day, and haven't touched the hot water tap in a shower since mid January. I also shave in the shower, meaning I probably take longer showers than most people. That said, I live in a warm climate where we've just the hottest summer on record, so perhaps "cool" showers is a more appropriate term.

    Personally, I have no intention to stop the cold showers. In fact, I intend to add them to my morning routine as a matter of habit. First thing, a cold shower. I think it's a great way to wake up in the morning and focus on the tasks for that day. I think the problem of "cold showers makes it hard to sleep" can be solved by simply not taking one within an hour of going to bed.

    If its warm therr where you are.. The showers wont be making you faint like in 30 degress in chicago lmao. In the summer here i took cold showers and it wasnt that hard (took effort tho) I wish i can live somewhere warm..
     
  9. Cold showers before bed just sounds like a bad idea all around.

    The main benefit of cold showers in my opinion is that they really wake you up and get you going - because of precisely that adrenaline response they create. They're a great start to a day, but a very poor end to one. Cold shower in the morning not before bed!

    The second, and perhaps equal main benefit is that they build willpower. Through exposure to something uncomfortable, you are learning to thrive amidst discomfort, rather than simply avoiding uncomfortable feelings. Of course once you get used to cold showers, this effect isn't really going to be there any more - at that point you need to find other ways to get out of your comfort zone.

    I sadly don't take cold showers any more but that's because of one reason: I have really sensitive dry skin, and after a cold shower, even if I apply moisturiser quickly, my hands are completely cracked and sore. Not fun. It's a shame, because I found cold showers tremendously beneficial. I may start taking them again once the warmer weather hits and my skin is less dry.

    I only take a cold shower before i go tonbed, once a day.
