Control urges to masturbate

  1. Hi guys,

    I’m early and only day 2 but I just want some advice as I have tried this in the past and failed.

    I’ve been 10 days porn free and no urges currently to watch a video which is good. I used to masturbate every morning and I woke up today subconsciously playing with myself! Then it was really hard to stop and calm my sexual thoughts down. Any personal experiences or advice to stop yourself from mastutbating? A quick mental go to etc?

  2. No success guaranteed but try
    1 Get up don't stay in bed
    2 Some say cold shower...in UK you're likely to stay freezing all day
    3 Try a mindfulness technique. Not expert but fix your thoughts on something else in your environment eg look at traffic outside
    4 ask yourself whether you really need or want to wank at that time eg delaying tactic

    Yup as Cullengado says, get out of bed. Don't wait to feel 'motivated' to get out of bed, literally JUST DO IT. Step into the shower. Don't think, just do it. Turn cold water on. Scream if you have to but make that water fall on your head and shoulders. Cry like a bitch if you need to. Get changed. Get out of your house, take a backpack with your work. Go to a café, live your life.

    PS: I'm also in the UK and cold showers actually make me feel warmer throughout the day! I think because my cold tolerance increases

    I would say use your feet. Get outside - get near people. Get into a COLD shower.

    @sakeen has it right on. @Cullengado is a wise one that has helped many with things like this. We all have a lot of combined experience. You will be surprised at the IMMENSE changes in your life that happen from small things. Plan your routine, and eliminate M from the plan!
     
  5. Yeah. This is my first time trying this and my first week and I have to say this is the toughest time for me -- first thing in the morning.

    I feel like Doctor Strangelove. Through the course of the day I sometimes find my hand on my crotch (working from home more than normal this week doesn't help this). But yeah, the time when just waking up is hard (the pun works here).
    I've been getting up and either (1) go the the gym (or try a walk outside if that's more practical for you), (2) get started with work, or (3) cold shower. The gym works the best for me so far as it gives me a physical release and keeps my freaking hands busy!
