I'm from Austria, our country is in shutdown mode, and all that panic and hysteria around made me relapse over and over in the last days. Now I feel I'm gaining strength again. And I was very stable before the crisis began.

Anyone else here who has experienced this in a similar way?

  3. I am dangerously close to relapsing because of Coronavirus. It is pretty much ruining the whole year and we are only 3 months in! Prior to this stupid Coronavirus there was little chance of me relapsing. I am almost at 90 days clean on hard mode and I was excited to get back out there and meet people. But instead we face the prospect of being locked at home for many months or even a year. This is ridiculous. And I can only imagine that if I was to somehow go on a date it would be easy enough for a girl to just use Coronavirus as an excuse for not wanting you to go back to their place. And it’s a valid reason that you can’t really talk yourself out of because we are supposed to be social distancing...

I live in a small city in the Netherlands. People are walking outside in parks, near the forests and children playing football.

Netherlands has a totally different approach to handle the virus, which is very interesting. Austria is in lockdown mode. Police is observing parks and groups are ordered to dissolve. In Vienna, police issued 320 fines just today.

Our government believes that everyone is going to get the virus sooner or later so might as well start to get immune to it. There are still restrictions here but that is only to prevent everyone getting the virus at once.

I really just wanted to enjoy the free premium
but it doesn't count as an excuse. I did watch porn. Thing is, I don't feel bad. I know I am supposed to feel like shit after watching porn, but this time, it was different.

Just wanted to take advantage of the free premium
. I know it's not an excuse to watch porn but that's why I watched it. I am Supposed to feel bad after watching porn but I don't. I don't know why. Anyway, I have had enough porn. I feel like today, 19/03/20, definitely the last time I watch porn.

the virus has nothing to do with pmo. if you feel that porn is giving you something good, you will feel an urge to use it. PMO does no good to you. when you realize this, quitting will become easy.

If you are having difficulty with urges, shut down your devices, go read a book and live as if it were the 1950's. Best of luck!

It is what it is. There is no point overstressing about it. Here's a great article from a solo sailor on how to deal with isolation.

“You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.”

“Here is a rule to remember in future, when anything tempts you to feel bitter: not "This is misfortune," but "To bear this worthily is good fortune.”

"Do not disturb yourself by picturing your life as a whole; do not assemble in your mind the many and varied troubles which have come to you in the past and will come again in the future, but ask yourself with regard to every present difficulty: 'What is there in this that is unbearable and beyond endurance?"

A time will always come when we have to be by ourselves in this journey. I believe we all must get to the point where we can be on our own and have trust in ourselves not to relapse. If you cannot be alone then inevitably you will relapse. At some point we will get sick or something like covid-19 will happen, or maybe you break you leg. Who knows? What will you do in those situations?

We must avoid blaming a relapse on this virus. If anything, it gives us all a chance to learn how to deal with isolation, as Fenix says.

Learn how to be by yourself and not relapse and you will learn how to make this journey so much easier on yourself.

The coronavirus should not be used as an excuse for relapsing. In fact, this is a real test of how determined you are in quitting PMO. I am on day 11 of no PMO and never felt better. Even though I am self isolating, I never let the urges take control of me. Ultimately it comes down to how willing and determined you are to quit PMO. There are no excuses.

“All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone.”

This quote has given me strength and optimism going forward. I got myself a prison cell workout regime sorted and just gonna keep increasing reps. This is my time to work wholly and solely on me. I’m gonna come out stronger, and so will you.
  15. Nothing lame about it it’s a simple fact that everyone is self isolating and I highly doubt that bringing an unknown stranger back to their place would be a high priority when this virus spreads so easy and you don’t know who has it because not everyone shows symptoms straight away.

I relapsed recently and I believed that it was because of all this hysteria around COVID19. However, I realized it wasn't because of that. My brain was just using COVID19 as an excuse to relapse. There's a lot of things one can do even if there's less social interaction right now. Go for a run, work out, watch your favorite movies or tv-series, open up a group voice chat with your mates, read a good book, do a little self studying if you're a student, etc. Looking back to it COVID19 really wasn't a valid reason to relapse in my opinion. Addict brain just uses it as a excuse to relapse. This is only from my point of view though, since here in Finland we're not locked inside, though uni's closed and gatherings of 10 or more people are prohibited.

I refuse to believe that world circumstances make me do anything. I may not be able to control circumstances, or prevent them from happening, but I can always choose how I react to them.

I fear the plague and an oncoming economic depression, but they never make me relapse :)

If I relapse it is because I choose to. Always.
