    Hi all,

Just thought I'd introduce myself... I'm J Scott and I'm looking to rebuild my life from the destructive influence of PMO addiction. See my journal at http://www.nofap.com/forum/index.php?threads/js-nofap-challenge.47384/

I really feel like porn has warped me, like it's turned me from a decent, honest guy into a "creepy" and "pathetic" loser. I'd like to go back to the way I was when I was 15. Even though I masturbated a lot back then, I was not a porn addict and didn't waste my time looking up
    cumshots and titjobs.

So, with my NoFap program, each day, I've been keeping track of my successes and failures. Eye contact seems to be a major problem for me, I can't look women in the eye without flinching or feeling "pathetic."

Hey, guy - "Creepy" and "Pathetic" and "Loser" are great descriptors, among others, of this addiction. They are definite words that you'll want to keep in mind as a lifestyle you no longer want to live. But, just remember, it's really your addict subpersonality that is the creepy, pathetic loser. It is your true and higher self that sees the lies of the addict and wants to live a better life. You can separate your true self from your addict self, letting your true self point the finger and expose the addict whenever he tries to lurk around the corners of your mind and act out. Shed light on the addict whenever he prompts you, personify him even, and call him out (audibly when possible - it makes him more real and tangible and not just an unspoken shadow in your mind) - it also buys you time at each temptation to make a better choice, which is in the power of your true self.

    Best wishes, dude.

    Hi J Scott,

You are not pathetic or a loser. You have just been caught up in some bad behavior. It is not who you are. What matters is that you want to change for the better. That is amazing and you should be proud of yourself for seeing the right course of action.

First, recognize what we're dealing with when we consider our sexual drive as men. It is the product of millions of years of evolutionary energy focused on one task: to reproduce with as many women as possible. Like it or not, that is our instinctual, animal nature. We can align ourselves with a higher state of conciousness, but that basic nature is a part of who we are. So when you take that animal nature and mix it with modern technology and an economic system that makes mega-bucks off of delivering it to us, we're kind of outmatched here!

You state at the end of your post that you feel pathetic when you make eye contact with a real woman. This may be because you have become ashamed of your sexuality. Watch out! Those feelings of shame and self hatred will keep you stuck in porn. Instead, see the sacred value of your sexuality and how important it is. Feel good about being attracted to women, it is natural. Masculine sexual energy propels us outward into the world to achieve, accomplish, experience, interact, and create. Don't be conflicted about that! Feeling bad will only keep you stuck.

Thanks guys for all your feedback.

I agree that it's not good to beat yourself up, but I feel that the language I was using is appropriate to describe those of us in the depths of PMO addiction. It really is a sad, unnatural way to be.

I was able to make eye contact with the attractive young woman serving me at McDonald's today without any anxiety, and I noted this to myself afterwards. I thought to myself, "If I were still masturbating daily I would have been nervous back then." But, it all went fine.

One small step for me, one giant leap for my NoFap program.
