Beyond a certain point in a reboot is it best to reincorporate M (to sensation-only, of course, no P) in order to ejaculate and prevent buildup associated with potential enlarging prostate (prostatitis)?

I have heard that urologists suggest once weekly M (that is, if no sex - preferable - is available to you).

    Thoughts on this.?

I think you are a troll.
You could have found out easily by searching a bit that there is no such danger. Please stop with that nonsense.

I literally just got back from a doc appt who suggested this, and did do a search thank you. Wanted to see if anyone could address the conflicting advice. No trolling here, sir.

What is the crux that makes this unequivocal nonsense, pray tell/??

It sounds like maybe what you're hearing is referring to this 2003 Australian study.
I saw mentions of "several studies" with similar findings but no citations for those.
This more recent English study has somewhat different findings.
You'll have to draw your own conclusions.

Yes, it can be bad for your prostate, and I'm not risking my health for some ideal. I prefer to have sex anyway. I'm opposed to masturbation, but not to sex. A lot of people on this site feel differently, and may be opposed to any form of release, and that's up to them. But yes, complete abstinence can be dangerous to your prostate. You get a warning from your body that a health problem is about to arise, when you start to feel discomfort. It's not really something you have to worry about until then, in my opinion.

Ah yes the familiar misguided doctor is the troll then.
The body gets rid of overproduction by leakage, wet dreams and such. So there is no build-up.

There's no sense of trolling here at all. He's investigating a legitimate issue, with legitimate medical information backing him up. You're trying to chill his speech with ad hominem attacks, instead of legitimate research. A quick google search will show you that many doctors believe this. It's not even a difficult thing to believe. Cutting off a bodily function is bound to have side effects, as everyone past the 3 day point already knows. I don't think the danger to your prostate is cause for alarm by any stretch, but it's definitely something to be aware of.

Alright, so he is not a troll..
There is no cutting off happening. The organ is still working, albeit differently. Also its function is nothing like other organs' function so don't throw them all in one bag.

In my books expecting nofap to cause harm is silly. No other animal on this planet does it and they are doing fine. Probably ancient man didn't do it either. Back when natural selection still had a say, this kind of nonsense would have been purged quickly.

    That's not true:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_sexual_behaviour#Autoeroticism_.28masturbation.29
    http://www.slate.com/articles/healt...09/07/hands_or_paws_or_anything_they_got.html
    http://www.iflscience.com/plants-and-animals/self-love-animal-kingdom

You should really do google searches and read about topics before you comment on them. These are the first results on google. The slate article even explores how masturbation can be beneficial from an evolutionary perspective--cleaning out the pipes to prevent infection. There are dozens of videos of monkeys masturbating on youtube. I'd link them but I wouldn't want to trigger anybody. But if monkeys do it, there's a fairly good chance that early men did as well. I don't see how masturbation is going to be detrimental from an evolutionary perspective. It may well damage our chances of reproduction, if our girlfriends happen to scroll through our browser history, but that's about it.

I also like how you selectively quoted me, avoiding where I said that everyone here already knows that nofap has side effects. I've had chest pains, profuse sweating, teeth grinding, trouble focusing, occasional delusions of grandeur, and periods of impotence. So while it's not the exact same thing as say, removing your ability to poop, it's still a normal bodily function that you're terminating, so you should expect side effects. Normal--most adults have regular sexual release; bodily--of the body; function--it does something.

What a bunch of wankers trying to keep their habit.

DWizZy, your "side effects" are most likely withdrawal symptoms, because you were addicted to masturbation and/or porn, because what would you be doing here, if you weren't addicted.

That enlarged prostate is just a myth, but I see how it's turning into a rationalization around here.

Stop jerking off and get shit done. Your body will take care of itself.

I think it is safe to say that none of us has enough medical knowledge to know the true causes of prostatitis and that internet searching is not the way to find conclusive and definitive answers. Doctors, like the internet, will have differing views based on research and teachings that are based on different, usually statistical, approaches.

However, it is worth remembering what NORMAL people do. An enlarged prostate is not a common ailment. There aren't government educational films everywhere saying "M to avoid prostatitis". Yes, it does occur, but the most logical reason is it is caused by a misfunction somewhere rather than not fapping. Fapping might lessen the effect, but it isn't a preventative - unless you are know to be prone to prostatitis in the first place.

As for the side-effects of not fapping, DWizZy you are clearly a very clever and thoughtful person and defending someone who you feel was being attacked for a legitimate question. But, you know those are a list of symptoms of addiction withdrawal. Don't get fooled into thinking otherwise or accidentally triggering people to fap.

And Immor, I think what might have been more accurate to say is "no other animal PMOs". At least I hope not. I'm not sure the world is ready for a penguin PMO addiction support group.

Complete absence of sexual release is different from the norm of society, so the burden of proof is actually on nofappers to prove that it's safe. Animals don't P but they do M and O. You're entitled to your own opinion, but you aren't entitled to your own facts. And yes, researching topics on the internet is the best method we have for resolving issues of fact. If you have a better one, I'd like to hear it. A moral argument about rationalization does nothing to prove or disprove the issue about prostatis. The only thing that could possibly prove the issue is medical research.

I've said that this is likely only an issue for someone who's experiencing discomfort, and that it's something to be aware of. You shouldn't push people to do things that are going to be dangerous for their health. While I'm fascinated to see how this fits into a broader paradigm about what is or is not natural, and why we should automatically assume that's better anyway, the narrow issue at hand is whether we need to watch out for our prostates.

It's not a bad thing to look at this issue with open minds, because you could actually end up finding a new solution. For example, maybe there's some vitamin supplement nofappers should be taking to watch out for our prostates. Vegan diets are more natural, based on our flat teeth and curved digestive tracts, yet vegans frequently have to take supplements to correct deficiencies. But we would never find that out if we followed a cult mentality and put up our blinders to avoid every piece of information contrary to nofap=good. No decision you ever make is going to be all pro or all con. Everything is a mixed bag.

If you want to keep fapping to protect your prostrate, go right ahead. Who gives a shit what you do.

I'm on here to quit and I don't care about all this medical bs

For every 'doctor' who says one thing, there is always one who says the opposite.

I personally find doctor's opinions vastly over rated!

I think I have protatitis. I have been getting this vibrating sensation in the tip of my penis whenever I sit down... If I do have it, it's because of my abstinence, and my wet dreams that I've learned to prevent pretty good. It's no big deal, and it's hardly a burden in my life.

I just had a wet dream, so I am feeling better :)

Jerking off is unnecessary. Your body can release excess semen in other ways, like nocturnal emissions (wet dreams) which is what happens naturally to people who do not learn how to fap, or releasing it in urine (which seems to happen to some people), or simply the body re-absorbing the excess sperm. And there's also plain old sex which is also a valid choice for people doing nofap

There is no risk of an enlarged prostate. The study is flawed. I also read somewhere that excessive fapping might actually make the risk of an enlarged prostate worse because you're stressing it more.

If you want to fap, that's your choice. Sites like YourBrainOnPorn emphasize that porn is the major issue, not fapping. HOWEVER abstaining from fapping really makes a difference in success rates during a reboot and keeps things simple enough to follow, so most people abstain.

We wouldn't need to discuss things here if we only repeated what was said on google. What i have been posting was instead based on my own experience. I have been around animals a lot and the only thing like masturbation i have seen is dogs licking their balls. However they get bored/frustrated with that after a few seconds, even if there is nothing else for them to do.
The examples you list are the exception that confirm the rule in my opinon. Animals that live in captivity and are unable to move/live like they are supposed to, go mad to an extent and behave unnaturally. (Just like humans)
But yes, i probably should have googled to find out it is not the best argument for the case because of that.

I quote to make clear what i am commenting on. If i would comment on everything and you did too, this would snowball into pages per post quickly.
Also i have my own theory on those withdrawal symptoms which i can not defend well.

Nice post NotAfraid, that could have been left like that, but i did not want to leave animals as wankers :)

They may choose to do so, because they are generally more concerned with health, but they don't have to. I can say this, because i am eating vegan and i don't take supplements. The last time i have been to a doctor was to give blood and that was many, many months ago. Also i feel awesome with it, especially now with nofap, unless i lack motivation.

Maybe im not the norm. I don't care enough to google/research it, but your statement is definetly not generaly true. (Wow am i opening my self up here for a counter.) Maybe you meant vegetarians. They often get into trouble because of substituting meat with lots of dairy products and fat.

Dogs dogs dogs. You can get a girlfriend, you can release stress, you can have amazing sex and still maintain your bullness. This bs about holding back, it's all mental in my opinion. Why? Because when you watch porn feel shame, when you have sex you feel power. Let's stop talking and start acting . Have sex with your girlfriend or whatever it's healthy.
