Do sexual urges decrease the longer you abstain?

Hey guys. I'm new to nofap. I've been an excessive porn user for the last seven years or so. I've tried quitting several times but always relapsed after a few days. I'm more determined than I've ever been this time and I'm currently on day 7 (sadly this is probably one of the longest periods I've gone without porn in all those years...). My question is - do the sexual urges become less intense the longer you abstain from sex/masturbation? I only ask because on a few occasions the last couple of days it's been pretty intense, almost overwhelming. It's hard to think straight and remember why you're abstaining when your brain's in a fog like that, but I'm determined to power through..I know I will just hate myself if I do give in.

    Thanks.

  2. Wish I could say yes but for me it's a struggle. I had success but I never seen it go away.l completely. Like now , i'm here fighting thoughts and urges. Keep fighting on. Guess we just got to learn discipline and control in weak moments.

Yep, I think we need our own reasons for motivation and to focus on those when it gets tough. With me, there's a woman I like at work but instead of talking to her like most people would I've just been ignoring her and sticking to porn because it's easier ha...I'm sick of being that guy. I'm not thinking I'm miraculously gonna be dating her after using nofap but hoping I can at least have more pride in myself and not be so anxious about talking to women.

  4. Keep strong. Wish you success. Don't give up keep fighting. It's so worth it.

    Yaar ofcourse...

If currently say .. Sexual urges will be under control . First 1 or two weeks maybe very difficult . Then you will learn how to handle it healthy way.

Rember that sexual urges can be physical, like a caress or accidental stimulation of the genitals, or visual, like a billboard, movie or real-life woman. They can be mental, like recalling a past sexual experience, pornographic image or sexual fantasy. I have found that the mind will often wander, seemingly at random, into thinking about sex a number of times over the course of a normal day. You need to turn away from it, and block out such thoughts immediately & learn to control yourself

testosterone levels are believed to be a significant factor in the strength of sexual drive or libido in males. Higher levels of testosterone increases sexual motivation and sexual desire.

There will be some days or times when testosterone levels are higher than others. During those times, there may be more physical yearnings and the endocrine response to sexual cues will possibly be more intense and more easily triggered. This means that it will be harder to keep thoughts away from sex. One study shows that on the seventh day of sexual abstinence there is a temporary boost in serum testosterone levels. So expect day seven to be harder than day six. On the plus side, things should return to normal by day eight.. :)

I think it gets easier after the first week or two, but I guess it is different for everyone. From reading the posts, many people say it gets a lot less after a month. I find the first week the toughest and then another peak of urges at the end of the second week.

Yes, but the degree to which it decreases and how long it takes varies. Usually 30-120 days. Remember, EVERYTHING gets better on noPMO- Whether it be a little, or a lot. Recognize that your life is only going to improve! Exercise aerobics (Treadmill, swimming, walking, running, elliptical... etc.), sleep well (However long is enough for you) and eat well. Even if you're still going to eat junk, throw in a whole bunch of healthy stuff too. That all helps :).

well, first, i am on day 155 today. First month is tough, and is full of temptations and urges. Then you kinda get into the flatline for some number of days, and its stable, there are not so big urges.
Before day 130, i didnt have some very strong urges, but man, from days 130-145, it was INSANE !!! it was like i was going to relapse, although i had so many days behind me and everything that i have been through should have taught me very well not to do it, but my mind was getting uncontrollable and these flashbacks and dirty thoughts and problematic imaginations started to enter my mind and trouble me very hard. But i didnt relapse, although i was very tempted and in my mind i kind of slightly was thinking about it, fapping started to seem not so wrong to me for some reason ... But i resisted, and restrained. I didnt give in, and i am glad about it, but these days were something like a very hard part of nofap, although i thought these hard parts are in the first month or two..... I didnt expect it to happen, but i should have expected it. I should have stayed precautious and vigilant. I think this is due to brain rewiring, or withdrawal symptoms, or other stuff that the abstinence causes. And i started asking myself : HOW COULD THIS BE ???? By the way, at some time during this period, i had the feeling that i have relapsed, and started getting crazy and paranoid about it, because i was feeling same things as in the first days after a relapse, so i'm starting to wonder, could it be in my sleep that i have resorted to relapsing without knowing, or fapping in my dream, with my hand down there (because i had 2 Wet dreams in one night on day 139) Of course i didnt relapse and i haven't relapsed, but i was just feeling very strongly that i COULD have done it. I dont know why.
So i removed the thoughts of relapsing from my mind, and one morning after taking a bath, i realized the trap that i was walking to again. And i had some motivation to continue ahead with nofap. By the way, baths play a good role in abstaining, when the urge is strong ... ;D
So in few words, they decrease, but dont disappear at all, and you must be very careful not to allow relapsing, when you get to the 3numbered days(100 and above), because this could very easily ruin your streak ....

It's different for everyone. Usually, after 8 weeks, your "cravings" level come back to a normal level, but you can still have urges at any time, it's just that they're easier to deal with. There are periods where you will experiment huge urges, even after hundreds of days of abstinence. You need to stay alert.

The positive point is that the more you resist, the easier it gets. After each urges you resisted, you grew stronger, so eventually, you'll be so strong that resisting won't be a problem if you are aware of whats going on. Just make sure to always stay alert though.

Read about hypofrontality in addiction. Developping your frontal lobes makes you stronger.

For me, I can say that I'm kind of safe once I reach day 15. It may be a flat line, but it sure does make things easy...

Yeah, this here is very accurate and true. ;D Must stay alert everyday all the time ... And yes, after you have resisted, you become stronger and feel more capable to deal with it the next time it comes.

No, i didnt edge, neither i touch myself, did nothing of that, it was only in my head, but i was very heavily tempted.
I commend you for stopping and coming to yourself.
By the way, i have noticed that when you yield to the urge and go watching, you are no longer the same person, you are different and relentless about this, and its very hard to come to yourself and realize what are you doing, so as i said, i commend you for this! ;D You have passed 30 days, dont return there, keep distancing yourself from this.... ;D

Flatline makes things much easier, but it can be extremely difficult to abstain if you're currently not in the flatline.

I think that there is no right answer to this question. After few weeks it is divided. Some days are hard like hell, and some are so easy that you don't have even an erection all day
