I already have quite a lot of other blockers set up on my laptop.

But I want to block all the sites I mainly have a problem with on the host file on my laptop. I then want to block the host file it's self. Then making the only way to be able to access the host file doing a factory reset on my laptop which would wipe everything on my laptop and take up to 4 hours.

I feel like this could really help me out by being a big deterrent to not even try to access porn.

But I was also wanting a very good porn blacklist. So I could also block the majority of porn on the internet on the host file, along with the sites I mainly have a problem with.

Does anyone know of the best porn blacklist? Or a very good porn blacklist? It would be good if I could just block all pornographic content online in the host file, but I don't know if this is possible?

If you do know of a good porn blacklist could you mail me it instead of posting it on here? As it might be inappropriate to post such sites on here.

  2. You can indeed block sites through your hosts file, but you can't prevent yourself from editing it. As a matter of interest, which operating system is on your laptop?

If you still want a list of porn blacklists, google "porn blacklists 2019" (there doesn't seem to be an up-to-date 2020 one yet).

You say that you have "quite a lot of other blockers". Do they, combined, not prevent you from accessing porn?

The best, of course, is to use self-discipline because it teaches you self-control, but if you are so heavily addicted that you can't, porn-blockers are a good thing. Have you considered using the services of a hypnotherapist? It might just work for you — every time you try to put on porn, you go temporarily deaf and blind

    Thanks Mordobarn.

I have never tried a hypnotherapist. I have actually considered one in the past for my anxiety though.

Going temporary deaf and blind does sound quite scary though lol.

The operating system on my laptop is windows 10.

I actually have a very good blocking system already Mordobarn. My friend is the adminstrator on my laptop and I just use a standard account on my laptop. I use a combination of blockers and a dns which I can not change. I don't even have a smart phone or tv. I have no other device that can access the internet except my laptop.

My blocking system is at the point I can't even see images or videos except the sites I have allowed them on at the beginning. I also have no apps I can access social media on and microsoft store is blocked, downloads are blocked. But there is one blocker that I use that occasionally doesn't 100% work all the time, and when this doesn't work this allows me to see the odd safe search google image ext. So even when this blocker doesn't 100% work the most I can see is safe search google images or restricted youtube videos, as safe search is locked on every search engine and youtube and can't be turned off. You probably wouldn't believe the amount of things I have blocked. I have basically made it impossible for me to access porn and artifical sexual stimulation, with the only thing I can very occasionally see is safe search search engine images or restricted youtube videos.

But this blocker that sometimes doesn't 100% work all the time also works on a timer. I can keep adding time to it if I want but I can't reduce the time. So a few days ago for instance I actually allowed this timer to run out, then I walked a mile to my friends who is the administrator of my laptop and he printed me the 30 digit symbol password on to a piece of paper. This password would basically be impossible to remember off by heart. Put it this way I have seen it hundreads of times and don't have a clue what it is. But after I got this 30 digit symbol password from my friend I then walked a mile home with it and went on my laptop and I unblocked everything. I then went on a 2 day PMO binge. After the 2 day binge I then blocked everything again and got rid of this piece of paper with the password on it.

With the blocking system I have in place I really shouldn't be relapsing, and I especially shouldn't be binging.

I know a way I can block the entire host file with the only way I would be able to access it is by doing a factory reset on my computer. As I would also delete all the restore points on my laptop. So system restore wouldn't even work.

If I could block all the sites I mainly have a problem with on the host file, because the main sites I have issues with are these specific cam sites and social media sites. If I blocked all of those in the host file and then blocked the majority of porn on the internet in the host file, It would be better if I could block all porn on the internet in the host file. But even still blocking all the sites I have a problem with and then blocking a very good porn blacklist would also be really good.

Then after I blocked the host file the only way I could access it would be doing a factory reset on my laptop.

This would be another big deterrent for me to not even try to access porn. As I would need to walk a mile to my friends, get that 30 digit symbol password, walk a mile back. So that would be 2 miles I'd need to walk. Then I would need to do a factory reset on my laptop which takes up to 4 hours. Then I could access porn. But then I would need to work to put everything back on my laptop, setting up that blocking system again. There is just no way I would factory reset my laptop. The only way I would do it is if my laptp was broken and factory reset was the only way to fix it. Plus one of those blockers I use doesn't even remove if you do a factory reset, and if that blocker still had time left then I couldn't even access porn even if I done a factory reset.

  4. I guess (some) blocking software has good black list. And they will only be good if they're updated like all the time.
Your problem seems to be quite complicated. I would say: don't look for the perfect solution. I once had my PC fully protected too (by myself against myself). But then I went into a sex shop. BOOM
I mean blocking is good and working with restricted internet access is healthy for a porn addict. But blocking isn't the only solution.

What you told happened with your friend - I understand perfectly, could have happened to me in the same way. But something went fundamentally wrong, when you asked him to give you the key. Or what do you think? I don't know if he shouldn't have given it to you. I assume you tricked him somehow. He's your AP or something like that! You mustn't lie to him. Or did you say: "hey, I need to watch porn! Please give me the code. I really need it." ? That at least would be honest.

Either you don't lie to him anymore or if that doesn't work the rules must be so strict that lying makes no difference. (If that is even possible).
I hope you have high respect for your AP. I think it's much easier when it's someone that you look up to than someone who's more like a little brother - if ya know what I mean.

    Hope this helps!

I created two email accounts with the only recovery option as the other email account. I don't know the date of births or the names on these email accounts, and the password for these emails is this 30 digit symbol password. Then one of these emails is used as the adminstrator account on my laptop, and it is the email to all the blockers and the password to all the blockers is this 30 digit symbol password. I just use a standard account on my laptop.

My friend only stores this password at his house on differnt files on his computer and other devices. As well as keeping printed copies in other safe places in his house. As I can't lose this password.

My friend isn't really the adminstrator of my laptop, he just holds the adminstrator password, which is also the password to all the blockers.

I didn't say to him in the beggining to not give me the password if I ask for it.

I simply do much better when I can't access porn or artificial sexual stimulation, or when it is an extreme hassle for me to access it. When it is an extreme hassle for me to access it I don't even try to access it. The more difficult it is for me to access the better.

The difference when I can access porn and artifical sexual stimulation comprared to when I can't access it is like night and day.

I just fairly easily go long without it when I can't access it. Where as if I was trying to get streaks with being able to access it easily, yeah I really think that would be bad, very bad.

With this blocking system it somewhat feels to me like getting streaks without even needing to try. It's like I don't even need to use my own willpower to refuse it, which if I am being honest I actually prefer.

There's no refusing it, I just can't get it. I much prefer it this way.

  6. @skaterdrew, you have been thorough!

If you have times when you feel so desperate that you walk two miles to get the password (not that two miles is a long way for a healthy person), my feeling is that something is missing. You are attempting to go clean without addressing the underlying issues that make you addicted in the first place.

People develop an addiction for a reason. Then, the addiction makes the problems worse, and adds new problems. For this reason, therapy is essential. When you solve the underlying issues, going clean is relatively easy — you only need to eliminate the physical addiction, without having to fight the constant desire to relapse.

    So…

Have you tried therapy in any form yet? If not, please do. You don't way where you live, so I don't know whether you have access to free services or not. Obviously professional help is best, but if your budget is tight, you need to look for free or cheap therapy. If you'd like some suggestions, I'll be happy to give you ideas.

In the meantime, is this friend someone whom you can trust to confide in your problem? Then, as @icebreaker polarstern says, your friend can refuse to give you the password, and will only let you have it while he is watching you so as to sign you out again after you have done essential maintenance.

Nope. I don't use any. I know they won't stop a relapse anyways.

Something else I forgot to say is I sometimes need to get the password to fix my laptop if anything goes wrong with it. So I need the password so I can access certain things, because many things I can't do unless I have the administrator password. So even just uninstalling something or downloading something, on my laptop it can't be done without this password.

That is actually what happened on Monday. I needed to fix something on my laptop and went to my friends to get the password. But once I fixed the problem I was straight on porn and went in to a 2 day PMO binge.

Usually when I go to my friends to get the password I say I need it to fix something. A lot of the time that is actually the case, but sometimes I actually just want porn.

But even when I do go to get the password to fix something, it is basically inevitable I will relapse, as I can't wait to unblock everything and have a peak it seems, and I know where this always leads. Sometimes a relapse, but a lot of the time a binge.

I can really trust my friend and confide in him. Maybe it would be a better idea for me to take my laptop to his if I ever need something fixed on my laptop, rather than going and getting the password and then going back home with it. But sometimes things take longer to fix, and on these occasionas I need to take the password home.

This is why I would love if I could block all adult content on the host file and then block the host file it's self, making the only way to get back in to the host file factory resetting my laptop. I think this would cause me to not relapse on porn at all.

I have had therapy a few different times because of my mental health. The last therapy I got just oer a year ago now it actually made my ocd and obsessions worse.

At the moment I just feel fed up, bored, and a bit of a low mood. The thought of PMOing seems good the now. But thankfully I can't get it. I more feel now like I am needing to find other enjoyable things in my life. Before I was so addicted to PMO that I don't think I was ready for that transition. But recently I do feel a difference. I now feel like I want something else that is enjoyable in my life.

I even just feel like PMOing is an enjoyable thing to do. I admit I feel that way about it. So the now I am sitting bored and a bit low and thinking PMO would be very enjoyable the now. This is why I really need to find something else enjoyable that is rewarding and healthy.

I think you are viewing this problem with the wrong perspective. Having a blocker on sites is useful, but like @Mordobarn already said, its an extern solution. The real problem is intern, where you have to change your view on masturbation and porn. I suggest that you read some books on youtube video's what the effect of masturbation could be. It helped me a lot. To understand the problem, you have first to be aware of it, which you can get by reading information about it. I hope this helps you a bit.

  10. How about building a house with glass walls! That will surely work for you.:D:p

  11. In that case, you received the wrong therapy for your condition. What type of therapy was it (psychiatry, CBT, etc.)?
It is enjoyable, in the same way as taking a shot of heroin is enjoyable. In other words, it's not really enjoyment; it's relief. In your case, relief from boredom and your unhelpful thoughts.

It's like when you wear a tight pair of shoes all day. When you take them off when come home, you think, "Oh, that feels good!" But it doesn't really feel good — it's just reverting to normal. You really feel relief.

Thus, you need to change your mindset towards porn to understand this — porn is a relief, a way of hiding from your real problems.

Get therapy, but find the right type, that will address your underlying problems. The fact is that OCD and obsession aren't your problems; they are the symptoms for your underlying problems. Once you deal with those underlying problems, the OCD and obsessions should fade away, or at least become easy to heal. Find a therapist who understands these conditions and deals with them.

Have you contacted your landline ISP and your mobile data plan provider to get them to block adult content? Many ISPs have this sort of service as standard.

So psychiatric therapy is mainly being medicated right? Medication did work for me. Certain anti depressants really made me feel a lot better mentally. Mainly the SSRI anti depressants. But all these medications that helped my mental health caused me severe permanent sexual dysfunctions the entire time I was on these medications. They also made me gain a lot of weight.

I went through many years in the past basically being a human guinea pig of psychiatric medications. Trying basically every SSRI anti depressant, trying an SNRI anti depressant, Trying a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, trying a few different trycylic anti depressants, trying mirtazapine, trying an anticonvulsant medication.

What I realised after being on many of these medications for months is most of these medications were actually making my mental health much worse. But the SSRI anti depressants were the only medications that were making my mental health better. But what I realised is the medications that were making my mental health worse were not causing the sexual side effects, but the medications that were making my mental health better were causing severe sexual side effects.

Trying many of those medications for long periods of time that were making my mental health worse was literally hell. It is the worst my mental health has ever been when I was on a lot of those types of anti anxiety medications.

When people say to me you could try another medication that could help your mental health, but it might not cause the sexual side effects, I am basically at the point I don't believe it, and I am not willing to go through anything like that again.

I know the medications that improve my mental health better, the SSRI anti depressants. But I also know that literally every SSRI I have tried, and that is basically them all also caused me severe sexual side effects the entire time I was on them.

I had therapy once a long time ago when I was a child, and then over the last 5 years I have had 3 different therapies. Two of those therapies were CBT therapy, and then the most recent one that I had for a year and a half from 2017 until the end of 2018 was ACT therapy. The CBT therapies didn't make me feel better at all, and the ACT therapy actually made my ocd and obsessions the worst they have ever been.

I don't have a mobile phone. I already have pornographic content blocked through my ISP. But this does nothing, as changing the dns settings easily bypasses this. Plus I could also unblock porngraphic content on my ISP account online.

I literally know a way I can lock the host file with the only way I can get back in to it is by factory resetting my laptop. If I could block all porngraphic and adult content in the host file, plus other sites I have a problem with, and then lock the host file, making the only way of being able to access it factory resetting my laptop, with the blocking system I already have in place, and then by doing this also, this would be a huge deterrent for me to never even try to access porn or artifical sexual stimulation. It would be at the point I would just go without porn and artifical sexual stimulation all together for a very long time without even really needing to try.

  13. That depends. But modern psychiatry does have a tendency to prescribe drugs first, and ask questions afterwards. I'm not a fan of this.
You aren't alone! Despite CBT being the first, and often only, choice of therapy for many doctors, it has a poor record. I have tried all sorts of therapies, and CBT made barely any difference.

I believe that for any problem, except in an emergency where we don't have the luxury of time, we should always go for a non-intrusive method first — so, gentle mental therapies. If they don't work, then try more aggressive mental therapies; if they don't work, then drugs; and if they don't work, then surgery (if it's appropriate).

By giving you drugs, they haven't tried the gentle mental therapies yet, apart from CBT. You really need to try other therapies before resorting to drugs, which you have already proven don't work for you (I am not surprised).

Here is a list of therapies that I've collected over time. I have tried nearly all of them. Some worked a bit; some worked well; some were amazing. Every person is different, as is each therapist, so it's impossible to predict which ones will work well for you. Some you can get free online, e.g. mindfulness, meditation, yoga (although, of course, a professional will always get a better result). Some are quite cheap, and some are expensive. I continue to do therapy, because each time, I get a little better.
    • CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy)
    • Clinical psychology
    • Counselling
    • Craniosacral therapy
    • EFT (emotional freedom technique)
    • Energy medicine
    • Hypnotherapy
    • Indian head massage
    • Massage therapy (by a professional, not a prostitute!)
    • Matrix reimprinting
    • Meditation
    • Mindfulness
    • Network spinal analysis
    • NLP (neuro-linguistic programming)
    • Reflexology
    • Reiki
    • Systemic constellations
    • Tai chi
    • Yoga
This is not an exhaustive list — there are other therapies available, if you care to look. You can also ask your GP for recommendations.

    Good luck!

Thanks very much Mordobarn. I will look in to some of these.

I forget to mention I have also tried mindfullness and that didn't help me either.

But touch wood my mental health does seem to be a good bit better compared to what it used to be. But there is no doubt that I still have a lot of issues.

  15. That's fine. As I said, each therapy works for some people and not others, so you just need to experiment until you find the best ones for you. Curiously, it also depends on the practitioner and the time of your life, so you might find that mindfulness doesn't work now, but in 10 years with a different practitioner it will. Best of luck!
