Does inadvertently peeking cause a relapse?

When I say inadvertently peeking, I mean does seeing a hot girl on social media or a sex scene in a tv show or a movie count as a relapse if I'm on a no-pmo journey. I don't deliberately look up porn. I have taken that out of my life, for good. I don't go on private mode or incognito mode anymore. BUT, I do still go on social media and watch tv, and I'm just not sure if peeking is a relapse. Because if it is, then I have only been masturbation and orgasm free.

At the end of the day, you determine what is and what isn’t a relapse for your recovery. If you inadvertently stumble upon pornography, like when scrolling through a social media platform… by quickly closing it… I would not consider this a relapse. Now… I would highly recommend you reduce or completely removed use of risky social media websites which is what I have done. Same thing applies for tv shows, if it puts you at risk to relapse, my opinion is to reduce or remove use.

@IndifferentlyUnique, you have asked two different questions. In the title you ask
Does inadvertently peeking cause a relapse?
and then in the post you say
does seeing a hot girl on social media or a sex scene in a tv show or a movie count as a relapse
No, it does not count as a relapse but it makes it more likely that you will relapse, so it is a contributing cause. If you accidentally see something that makes porn use more likely, then get up and get away from your screens, do something else.

There will always be women you find attractive. The only way to avoid it, probably, is to become a literal monk. One member on here actually did that, and he quickly discovered he couldn't cope with the monastic life. As for the social media part, I would say be more purposeful with your use of social media - don't mindlessly scroll.

With sex scenes, it depends on how you respond to it. I find if I'm caught up in a story and there happens to be a sex scene, I'm not triggered by it because I care about the characters. On the other hand, there are some movies that I've just watched for the sex scenes and I consider watching them a relapse.

what most people do here is focus on abstaining from PMO.

Is there Porn?
Is there Masturbation?
Is there Orgasm?

If not, then how can it be relapse? You decide for self of course, but I think this part is pretty basic.
HOWEVER, if you are seeking the stuff out - getting micro dopamine hits - then you are doing a dangerous activity known as "edging" Guard your recovery friend, read movie reviews, get offline and into life. Don't treat your sobriety so casually, or you will be doomed to fail.

You've come along way, treat that success as your most guarded treasure!

To quit permanently, turn instantly when a scene is wrong. If you peek you will slip up sooner or later.
