I recently was diagnosed with Shingles (Sister of Chicken Pox) but the Doctor was shocked How did I get Herpes in such age (twenties), that it happens mostly with old people, and the reason is that a person can get it when he has a very low immunity. The Doctor asked me if I "Smoke, Take drugs or any sort of addiction", I answered no..

My routine is good in terms of taking variant healthy food. Any ideas ?

U should tell the doctor u masturbate a bit if u did. I personally feel a bit weaker and vulnerable to sickness the hr after I PMO. I did catch a fever or cold due to this. But maybe I was weak and that occures to me only.
In Chinese medicine, over masturbating was known to hurt your yin yang in the body and create an imbalance.

I have done a Blood picture test and I found that I have anemia. I will visit the Doctor again (unfortunately, everything is on holiday until Wednesday). I am used to get flu frequently but I never thought I would reach such a situation right now, especially since last 3 months I have reduced PMO much more than anytime before. I hope things get better soon :(

I don't think so. I have masturbated a lot before try to quit, still I'm rarely ill even with cold and rarely wearing warm cloth at winter, eating food fallen on floor, also OK with outdated products that not smells bad. Being with ill people also doesn't affects me. All my problems in health is from genetics or because something was broken.

It may be a question of how or what mechanism it actually influences. Other people on this forum, including I think a PhD guy had noticed the same thing in terms of common cold and flu when lapsing or relapsing. Diet is only one part, anyone having any kind of addiction likely doesn't have a totally balanced lifestyle beyond just that particular addiction and health is a matter of balance with all those factors. In general though PMO does seem to throw a big monkey wrench into the works enough to make that happen the next morning.

I am a medical student and will attempt to answer this question purely from a perspective dictated by my knowledge of endocrinology. I will keep the language simple.

I see a lot of users on the forum are poised to attack anyone posting a scientific answer, and if I find myself subject to such scrutiny, I shall leave the thread. That said, take my answer with a grain of salt if you disagree. I will post no articles to back myself up; everything can be found 1 Google search away if you don't believe me.

    That said, let us begin.

First of all, it should be made apparent that almost all the effects of PMO (mainly MO) are a consequence of your endocrine system. Simply put- hormones. From the pleasure to the orgasm to the regret- all of it is governed by the interaction of thousands of hormones in your mind. And body.

The latter part is something people tend to forget; hormones don't just affect your mind.

I will start with prolactin. This bitch of a hormone is responsible for the regret people feel after sex and MO. It kills libido, antagonises dopamine and allows the person to relax and breathe after all of the thrusting. In its total absense, a man may give himself cardiac arrest from uncontrolled sex. It remains elevated for weeks following an MO session, causing feminising effects all over the body (pro- before; lactin- milk hormone). These usually do not become apparent due to our testosterone, which more or less totally mitigates these effects. Other than possibly contributing to gynecomastia (tits on guys), (high) prolactin is associated with autoimmunity in humans. This is very, very bad.

Alzheimer's, SLE and even type 2 Diabetes can fall into the category of autoimmune diseases. I am not saying you're gonna be a diabetic man with dementia if you jack off too much; I am, however, saying that you will raise your likelihood of getting ill if you do it too much.

Moving on to dopamine. All of us addicts suffer from a lack of it. Dopamine promotes WBC (immune cells) activity in the body. Guess what will happen if it decreases? Fortunately, the effect of dopamine is very mild so we can actually overlook this little paragraph.

Cortisol. Tiny amounts are released when you JO. It helps you return to normal after an orgasm. Porn companies love to quote the effect of cortisol to boost immunity.

    And it does.
    But only in small amounts.

Addicts release increasing amounts of cortisol during withdrawal. This wreaks havoc on your immune system. Let me simplify it for you; when you think cortisol, think of stress. It's the stress hormone. A little bit can make you alert; too much can cause hairfall, diabetes and a whole lot of immune deficiency.

I could spend another half an hour typing up about other hormones, but I am out of time.

Let me conclude with zinc, a micronutrient which semen is rich in. Other than semen, your immune system is heavily dependent on Zinc to work. With each ejaculation, you deplete your body's zinc store. It isn't very significant, mind you, but then again, try to count how many times you've ejaculated in your life. That'll help put things into perspective for you.

So in short, yes- HELL YES- masturbation ruins your immunity over time. There's very little is doesn't harm in your body if uncontrolled, to be honest. It's slow, blissful suicide.

Interesting. Then I have reasonable question, what will change, if I will have the same amount of sex with partner, not MO? What the difference?

Your body is able to differentiate between masturbation and sex. As a consequence, the hormone cocktail released in your brain differs. Significantly. Endorphins are much higer after sex and the prolactin increase is generally lower. To add to that, long term changes in dopamine receptor function after sex are very different than those produced by compulsive PMO use.

In fact, sex is a very healthy alternative to PMO. It boosts cardiac health, emotional maturity and many other aspects of your health. Always prefer sex to PMO.

How about arousal? What triggers a person feeling more arousing? Why do I find certain physical features from other women a lot more attractive than my partner?

I definitely agree with jacking off too much reduces immune system. I felt weaker afterward.

Arousal is primarily a product of testosterone and dopamine acting in tandem. Other hormones such as oxytocin may also play a role.

The second question isn't so easy to answer. Arousal has the same physiological basis for every human, but the triggers vary from person to person. It may have to do with your environment, genetics, upbringing or any combination of these 3 factors.

No, masturbation does not weaken your immune system. Ejaculation does.

I haven't had cough or cold since September earlier I was severely suffering from cold and cough and I couldn't go a week without having congestion in my nose, either I'm at my peak of my immunity or this nofap thing works like a miracle. Exercise does boost immunity.

Exactly. The mechanism that really TAXES your immune system is actually not ejaculation itself, but it's what a man's body has to go through to replenish lost sperm cells. It's very taxing on your body to create those extremely fit cells. That's where the immune system takes a hit.

  15. one of my family members had HS (hidradenitis suppurativa) and after doing nofap for like 2 years and quit smoking and sugar and all that stuff he got better and his skin cleared up and he didn't need surgeries or steroid injections and all that stuff anymore.

    chemical imbalance is real.

Thanks @IAmLegion for your interesting posts.
Didn't know that these two diseases could fall into that category. In fact, it seems there are only theories about that (you said we could search on Google, so that was what I did):

    https://www.healthline.com/health/t...autoimmune-diease#what-it-means-for-treatment
    https://www.j-alz.com/content/surprising-finding-provides-more-support-alzheimer’s-being-autoimmune-disease

In my case, my immune system is ... great, always been. I'm almost never get sick. I don't know what getting a flu is, never had one in my entire life (knocking on wood). Last time I got a cold was ... I can't remember ... years ago??? At work I have colleagues that get sick many times every year. If I remember correctly, last time I got sick was ... like two years ago ... I got a Gastroenteritis that lasted 3 days (only first day felt really bad).

But I'm sure my case is the exception that confirms the norm (my father never got ill, as long as I can't remeber). It has sense that our immune systems get affected by masturbating too much because that puts our bodies under some kind of artificial stress, unbalancing everything.

Yes, yes ofc I'm glad you brought this up :)

Thing is, the cause of Alzheimer's is yet to be definitively proven. There are currently three hypotheses which we are taught in the first year of medicine:
    1. The Tau Hypothesis
    2. The Cholinergic Hypothesis (most widely accepted)
    3. Autoimmunity

Most students tend to study only the 2nd one, because it's commonly asked in exams for physiology, however I tend to read the bigger books which give a more in depth picture. In fact, for all idiopathic conditions, I believe the more knowledge a student has, the better his chances are of becoming an excellent doctor. :) I wanna fall into that category.

As for type 2 DM, autoimmunity is a commonly thrown around cause in cases where it isn't due to a poor lifestyle or some pancreatic tumor. Type 1 DM can also be of autoimmune origin, although this is less explored.

Thanks for pointing it out. You helped me revise a bit of my stuff ^^
