I’m going to say yes. Anything that diverts your energy towards something that improves you is going to help you on your journey.

The feeling of achievement after you finish a run is really something. You don’t have to break records, even getting slightly out of your comfort zone is enough.

Being away from screens and getting out in the world is also a good feeling. Even if it’s just in your local area. You may find yourself working through problems which is now assisted by the lack of distractions running offers. Or you might find yourself in an almost meditative state just appreciating what’s around you.

The burnt energy also results in a better sleep.

I’m unsure how experienced you are in regards to running but here’s some tips for you and anyone else interested. Disregard if you have done a bit.

    • Start small - don’t overdo it, a lot of people joining the military end up with lower limb issues from inadequate preparation, then when they get to basic training their body can’t handle the amount or intensity.

    • Warm up and cool down

    • Improve your technique overtime for more efficiency (YouTube or even a coach)

    • Invest in a decent set of running shoes

The hardest part is getting out the front door, the best way to overcome this is to tell yourself you’re just going to go around the block or just going to take it easy/recovery jog. Making a new playlist also helps.

I can’t stress this enough: any run, no matter how far or how intense, is better than no run at all!

So in short... Yes, running will help ;)

I don't know. I would say yes but every person is different.

  4. Yes. Running is not only good for your heart/lungs/posture/legs/skin, but it even improves brain function and emotions.
Don't forget, you can also do rowing and cycling at the gym for some variation.

Running helped me a lot in my life and I wish I started this great hobby at a much younger age.
Anyway, its a fantastic hobby that will bring you many benefits what will also aid you in the struggle against porn.
My tip: start running and also enlist yourself for some 10 mile races or half marathons when you are ready for it.

I would also agree that it is extremely helpful to the body although I'm not sure how it would be tied to nofap. It is one of the best exercises of done in HIIT for increased vo2 max and glute activation that many of us lack. As long as you focus on proper form (lifting the legs rather than pushing off) then you are OK.

  7. And it should be mentioned that it takes quite a few runs for it to start feeling good. Day-on, day-off perhaps and wait a few weeks for the body (and mind) to adapt.
I'm creaking like an older guy atm as just not used to it after months off.

Only if you stay on a good streak. Otherwise you'll just be running with the accompanying brain fog from the beating off regularly.

  9. A huge YES from me. I really need to do it more often. Really helps with blowing off steam.

Thank you for answering guys, will start running more frequently.

  11. I wouldn't have believed your words before starting the nofap. I am an avid runner, and after almost one week of nofap, I truly experience the difference. Funny, I used to make myself believe that "beating off regularly" was helping me with my exercise. I've just added yesterday another lap, and it felt awesome!

  12. Yes.

Ex-Athlete and I have to say, it’s magic. I run at nights now for a number of kilometres, it’s great

Anything that makes you spend some quality time on yourself is good, man. Give it a try! Who knows, you may find a new hobby in that.
