    Hi ya'all
I read somewhere that don't a dopamine detox will heal your brain faster on this NoFap journey. I haven't done this before so can you share your benefits on dopamine detox if you ever did this ????

I did it once last year. The Youtube guy Andrew Kirby created a subreddit and I joined. On a Sunday I tried the intermediate version (no phone, no computer, no electronics, no music, just journal, books and sports). The day went well, but the day after was the hell for me. I was constantly on the phone and I was hooked by social media. I wanted to catch up my dopamine rushes that I didn't get on the Sunday.

The dopanine detox didn't work for me, because I wasn't prepared for the day after. I'm still fighting with my social media addiction, which gives me dopamine rushes. :/

I tried to do a short answer. If you have any further questions feel free to ask. :)

Let's do it again. Not completely. I mean let's use phone only 2 times a day to respond to important messages. That's it. Let's do it for a week.

Bare in mind when you give up the most thing you're addicted to, so in your case, PMO, porn, artificial sexual stimulation, bare in mind that this is already a powerful dopamine detox.

What I personally think is a good idea is trying to set your self a goal where you only go on the internet, game at a certain point in the day. So maybe 6pm at night, and then during the day go outside, be around other people, do a certain level of exercise.

I think this is a good strategy, and I think it makes for much better mental and psychical health.

This strategy isn't something I have been able to 100% implement myself yet. But I have noticed the days I am out the house most of the day, around other people, and then only going on the internet at night, I do tend to feel much better mentally these days.

Also when I say going on the internet at night, I still don't mean going out most days and then when you go on the internet at night still using porn and artificial sexual stimulation. Of course your goal should be not using porn or artificial sexual stimulation at all.

I love the concept!! But not the method as proposed by Kirby. For people here we are already on some form of detox. Let me explain how he tried to implement and how I like it.

He proposed a very very short term (a single day) dopamine halt, which is like a slap to the dopamine hungry brain (but a slap, doesn't affect the addict), then from that slap on-wards he proposed us to begin our target activities. Somewhat gave a general direction to follow.

I don't think this type of dopamine detox is effective. For people like us, detoxes should be much longer say 14 days or 21 days off SM. The basic philosophy was to deprive your brain of dopamine (the ambition endorphin) from artificial achievements (like unachievable number of sex partner via porn, winning worlds by clicks of mouses & strokes of keyboard i.e. Virtual games, etc.) so that we plan for real achievements that really matters to us in long run or in general. I think to be able to do that one must stay away from external stimulus for at-least 21 days to see any real affects.

I agree, a one day detox would make me just spend the entire next day on screens.
