Hello fellow fapstronauts. I'd like to get some opinions from others about this matter.

I'm currently a daily methamphetamine user and I am also attempting a reboot. I'm curious because methamphetamine use (in this case dependence) shares a similarly addictive aspect with PMO and also has a tendency to be associated with increased expression of sexuality. This may present additional challenges to the process, but at this point cessation of the drug use is not my primary concern. I plan on proceeding with the reboot regardless, I'd just like to hear y'all's thoughts on the matter and perhaps anyone else sharing a similar experience... Thanks!

  2. hey man, i would recommend you to go all in on this reboot process and burn all the bridges behind. i would recommend you to do the reboot process for the drugs and porn at the same time. And whenever you feel urges then simply come over to the nofap community and share your feelings. Don't feel guilty about the past. i hope this helped. good luck.

I see a big red flag with the fact you are tackling porn use before drug use. Is there a reason why it is not the other way around? In my opinion anything that changes your state of mine like drugs or alcohol or even caffeine can make it significantly harder to stay sober, especially in the early stages of reboot.

There is also a possibility that drug use could hinder or damage the reboot process and could seriously mess your brain up. Take it from someone who has gone through an extremely long flatline/withdrawal process.

If you are addicted to porn, that is certainly an issue but it should be secondary to a drug addiction. I dont recommend tackling both issues at the same time as that could mean a particularly hard withdrawal process all at once, though its up to you.

I would also recommend you seek professional help regarding your escapist behaviours if you have not already

Depends on the drugs. I would relapse within 30 minutes of the first bong rip if I smoked weed. With alcohol, it would be high risk, but more subtle. With amphetamines, the closest thing I've taken was my prescription Adderall. I would likely not relapse on a heavy dose of Adderall. With Valium I would just end up watching Matlock. I've never done street drugs, and don't really even know what they look like, I do know where the open air drug market in Seattle is however.

I recommend going to NA and start working on your 30 day chip.

I agree with the other posts. All addiction is bad but take out the big boys first. Like someone mentioned get to NA and get clean, IMO the nofap can wait.

I do appreciate the advice. Quitting the drugs isn't my intention at the moment. That would pose a threatening interference with other aspects of my life such as employment. I do work a couple jobs and it wouldn't allow me to maintain the busy schedule. I do hope to one day address that but at the moment p*** addiction is causing the most destruction in my life.

My partner and I both use (M-AMP) which hasn't really caused much detriment to our relationship, but my porn addiction has most certainly been a bane almost solely responsible for the decay and ruin of our relationship.

Another problem with ceasing the substance use is the tendency to use PMO to relieve withdrawal symptoms induced by stopping the drug use. this was definitely the case when I quit heroin which I've long since parted ways with thankfully. I imagine the same would be likely in the case of the methamphetamine cessation.

Thanks for the replies btw. The input definitely confirms for me that the challenges I expect to encounter are valid. Now the real quandary lies in figuring out what the next best approach might be. It could be too overwhelming to try and tackle two addictions at once but perhaps icI employ some harm reduction strategies with the drug use while employing the various aspects of recovery on the PMO. Trial and error works in many different areas, why not this one as well? Besides I see myself getting stuck not making any moves until I've calculated the precise path to choose moving forward. Though I can vsuppose its better to make an attempt and fail than it is to fail making an attempt altogether. Maybe I need to stop analyzing it so much and just dive into the fray as matters are and utilize my best efforts to continue from there...

Thanks for your honesty. We are all different and what works for one might not work for another. I’m definitely a believer in being true to yourself so I respect your decision to tackle it in the order you have decided.

It definitely complicates things though and your journey will be a bit different, for one I don’t think it’s possible to reboot while taking drugs, there also is the obvious link betweeen that drug and sexual desire which you mentioned. So if you have urges are they from you or are they from taking meth? That doesn’t mean you can’t start laying down a lot of groundwork, through education, sharing on here about how you are getting on and just doing the best you can with the situation you are in. For me this is all about growth and moving forward.

I wish you all the best on your journey

To be fair, you did bring it up and asked for advice.

If you arent interested in changing the drug habit, why mention it? Focus on the problem you think you're ready to address.

Just wanted some others' opinions on the matter to get some sense where I may have overlooked myself. Easy for me to miss the obvious sometimes.

I was hoping that someone with similar circumstances might share their experiences of working through the porn addiction mess. They're both separate beasts themselves each possessing their own unique attributes but also sharing some as well. Regardless I appreciate the feedback no matter how else I'd rather tackle this behemoth. I'm just grateful for the support in general. Thank you!

I did meth only to watch porn for hours and hours.
Its the most powerful combination and yes i love it and i would like to do it till i die.
    But i cant.
Obviously i cant just watch porn and do meth there are other things in my life.
If i dont watch porn i dont wanna do meth if i dont do meth i am not watching porn.
I would shit on drugs coz they make u feel bad if u dont have them or after discontinuation.
Im an addictve personality. I always had an addiction. Few years ago i was addicted to computers then i started bodybuilding i got adfictef to bodybuilding.
The good thing i just need one addiction amd it is sport. I cant do drugs cause they interfere with my sport. During my 5 year gym history i got hooked up by meth and k lost 10kgs during 3 months. I looked in the mirror amd i hated my look so i stopped before i got really hooked by meth.

At the end of the day. Youre using drugs , and the porn for the same things. Could be childhood trauma , didn't learn healthy tools to help cope with real life stress . I find the longer in recovery I am in, and the deeper i dig.. the compulsive sex/porn was only the problem on the surface.
Dig deep and really ask yourself why you use or watch porn in the first place.

Yes porn and meth do synergize quite effectively, but sans meth the porn is still a prominent struggle in my life. I'd say that's a clear indicator that the issue is far deeper than just the coping mechanisms that manifest in problematic behaviors. What dwells in there that requires a means of coping? What is so strong that despite the negative consequences of porn use and drug use (or any compulsive behavior), it seems necessary to continue these behaviors to maintain a sense of contentedness? It's obvious that my actions and behaviors due to these indulgences are proving detrimental to living a life of decency, yet I still find it vital to continue on ad infinitum.

It is a deep seated issue that I am aware requires an entirely radical approach of excavation to merely reveal the shell that encases the infection. I think...no, I know that seeking therapy is prolly a wise endeavor to pursue even if initially I don't plan to cease the problematic behaviors. Better than just sitting on them trying to find a solution myself which has thus far proven to be impeccable no?

Actually it is currently a goal of mine to remain porn free from this point forth despite prior countless attempts to do so. I haven't been honestly giving it much a chance until very recently though so that may be a reason for failing to get very far into recovery. My current goal doesn't really include cutting out the meth use though. This reservation may prove to ensure that quitting PMO remains quite an arduous feat...but all of this hypothetical pondering doesn't matter anyhow if I do nothing beyond just thinking about it. Therapy is the only foreseeable route at the moment no matter what supplies i tote with me on the outset. I'm sure I'll slowly learn to journey onward without the need for extraneous gear as I get a better grip on tools that don't carry as much weight as porn or drugs. I know this can be the case, it just looks to be so far away on the horizon. I really hope I'm just a terrible judge of distance...

I would stop the meth first. I think its going to lead to more porn use and doesn't solve your problem. Stop the meth and then stop pmo. I never was addicted to meth but I taken Adderall and it just led to prolonged PMO sessions. I stopped taking all drugs and now trying my best to stop PMO. Living life naturally is the best way. Forcing dopamine in your body triggers all kinds of unwanted behavior. I am learning the hard way, but there is still hope for everybody.

Are you replacing PMO with any other new habit? Do you have a journal or things like that? These make the challenge MUCH more manageable.

Yes I have revived a long neglected hobby of assembling plastic Gundam models. Actually perhaps I just grew out of that activity, but I've found that it is still relaxing (when I'm not accidentally breaking little pieces) Primarily it helps to occupy my time that left without something to keep me busy, would
almost certainly be spent consuming porn.

I do have a journal that helps me organize some of my thoughts and feelings a little bit despite difficulty I have identifying and expressing my feelings as it is. I have found it to be better with that option than without...

I know man, have a terrible problem to identify what is causing me what, so I usually write everything I'm feeling and why I think. Usually it's all the why's in different degrees and sometimes it's just my head.
