Ejaculatory Anhedonia (No orgasm)

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Lookingforanswers12216, May 29, 2017.

  1. I'm new so I don't know if this is the right place to post this.

But does anyone here have any issue with Ejaculatory Anhedonia? What that is exactly, is when you can get erect, you can ejaculate, but upon ejaculation you don't feel an orgasm at all. There's nothing.

This started last year early December and there's been no improvement. My doctor brushes it off as anxiety despite the fact that I'm anxious because of this. I have tried PMO, but I also can't last as long as I used to. I used to masturbate for 1-3 hours almost every night since I was a teenager (My doctor said that was fine), and I'd almost always use porn. Now, I can barely last 10 minutes, I don't feel any of that pleasurable feeling in my penis, and I can't orgasm.

I figured I'd try this NoFap thing, but I just want to know if there's any hope at all. It's depressing and stressful, and kind of dehumanising. I just want to get better.
I've been able to last about a week or so without PMO, but sometimes I just feel stressed and want to see if the orgasms can come back, then I cave and do it.

Anyway, if anyone has any advice, or has been through a similar situation, I would greatly appreciate it.

(I also have a tiny tear going from the meatus down towards the frenulum. My doctor won't do anything about that. All of this started about three-four months after the tear.)

I felt this when I was at extreme of my PMO streak, as if my dopamine receptors have become numb.
I used to ejaculate and only used to feel like water flowing with no feeling of euphoria at all.
I just wanted to get a release and thats it , no feelings of good at all. How long have you been doing PMO?
I think your receptors are roasted. You need a reboot

  3. I've just heard about this about three months ago. I looked elsewhere for a while, but just recently started trying in March. At first it was hard to do a few days, but now I'm up to a week. I felt very alone and depressed today, so I tried again with no luck, so I'm back at zero.

I never knew that dopamine receptors could get desensitised like this, I never had any reason to consider it before. Do you know if it's possible for them to go back to normal?

I have been fapping for 10 years , 4-5 times everyday, Even I dint know about nofap.
I had ED and PIED, and i couldnt get my penis up infront of a naked woman and then i realised i have something terribly wrong.
I did 87 days with nofap, and i can say im 30 - 40 % healed, i need 2-3 more reboots of 90 days and then i can consider myself completely healed.
What you felt was "flatline", its part of the healing process. Dont give in to those feelings of anxiety, depression etc, they are all trying to force you to go back to your old habits.
    Dont pmo at any cost.
How long have you been doing pmo? how old r u?

  5. I don't think I've ever masturbated that much in one day, but I masturbated for 1-3 hours every day, as mentioned.
So you went from 0/10 to 3 or 4/10 as far as orgasms go?
Are breaks in between 90 day Reboots okay? Or does that basically just reset everything?

I know I can stop it if I have to. It's just going to be a rough run.

I'm 25, and have probably been doing it since I was 17-18 or so, if I were to guess. It wasn't as frequent with P until I was probably 18-20.
M was earlier, but not as frequent. I never had a problem with O until last December.

My main problem was ED and PIED, so 30 - 40 % means, now I can have erections as hard as 30 - 40 % , Not 100 % hard erections.
And my goal is to get 100 % hard rock erections, as far as feelings of orgasm ,
I would say it was 5/10 , still a long way to go, but I know i will be completely healed if I keep doing NoFap,

  7. Okay. I can still get erections and I don't seem to have an issue getting to 100%, but I find I ejaculate way too quickly. I used to last for as long as I wanted, now I struggle to last for 10 minutes. I don't know if that will come back or not either.

Did you mean it was a 5/10 back when it just felt like water flowing, or after the first 87 nofap?

Thank you very much for your responses by the way.

Back then it was 0/10, after 87 days it was about 5/10, I want it to be 10/10, so thats why I said maybe I need 2-3 reboots of 90 days , maybe 180 days to get 10/10,
and by that time, my ED and PIED, will also be cured and I can get 100 % erections.

  9. I sincerely hope that going the full 180 days works for you, and that you'll never have to deal with any of this stuff again.

I'm going to try 90 with no PMO. I'm hoping it works.

    Thanks again!

In the Wikipedia article, one of the possible causes is from vitamin B-6, and the symptoms disappear when the vitamin is dropped. I had never heard of such a complication from any vitamin.

  15. I thought that was pretty odd too.
My Doctor said B-12 was low, and had me on supplements for a little while but it's all normal now. Basically everything's normal as far as blood testing (I've been tested for a ton of stuff), blood pressure, testosterone, etc goes.

I’m curious to know if you were able to find a solution for this problem. Were you able to reboot? Did your orgasm return? I have this exact same problem.

  17. Hey @Lookingforanswers12216 ,

If after a reboot this doesn't improve, see your doctor again.

I'm not a doctor, take everything I say as coming only from a layperson.

Take a look at any recent medication changes. Even medications you've been on for a long time can have effects that don't show up for years.

As well, any recent injuries? It doesn't have to have been an injury to your groin. Nerve injury to the spine can cause problems.

Lastly, did this problem show up right after a colonoscopy? Years back GI doctors routinely used electrical cauterization to "cap" hemorrhoids they found during a colonoscopy. Worked great, no pain for the patient and any future problems hemorrhoids could cause didn't happen. Unfortunately, the nerves to the genitals run right by the rectum and every once in a while the GI doctor would cauterize and hit a nerve. They don't routinely cauterize hemorrhoids any longer.

Look at your calendar, figure out what happened right before the problem showed up.

  18. I have never heard of that before. Sure, I've had an inability to cum in the past, but never knew that someone cannot feel anything of the sensation.

  19. Im female but when ive been on birth control in the past i felt no pleasure sensations or euphoria during orgasm. It would literally be the contractions without the feeling of orgasm. I got the orgasm feeling back since stopping hormonal birth control. It took a few months to get back to normal. I guess the hormones messed up my brain chemistry. And thats what porn does too, but in a different way of course. I suspect the orgasm feeling will return if you continue with nofap and get yourself healed

  20. @Bluebell has an excellent point.

One medication that men are prescribed is finasteride (generic for Proscar or Propecia) in 1mg strength it is prescribed for hair loss and in 5mg strength it is prescribed for an enlarged prostate.

Most men take it and have few side effects. But, some men experience adverse effects from finasteride. It is a hormone that blocks DHT (a chemical derived from testosterone). It can affect libido and ejaculation.

Another medication is that is pretty common for men is tamsulosin (generic for Flomax). It relaxes the smooth muscles. One very common side effect is retrograde ejaculation and anorgasmia (the inability to orgasm).

I don't really like "Dr. Google". I make every attempt to stay on WebMD, the NIH (US National Institute of Health and Center for Disease Control) or Englands NHS (National Health Service) websites. They can get a bit technical - but I feel like I'm getting valid information.

You most likely seen this article https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1765044/

But, if you haven't it's a good review.

Nothing can substitute for a doctor's visit.

Once again, I'm not a doctor. So, take everything I write as coming from a layman.
