I am sure you exactly correct here. I have heard it said that the sin which hurts God the most is our sin of failing to trust Him. I can understand that. He is the most supreme being in the entire universe. He created the entire massive thing and all the good within it, yet somehow He has the time, the patience, the mercy and the love to care for each of us. How offensive it must feel when we selfish, petty humans, take it on ourselves to ignore Him and guide ourselves.

 

This! God seeks a loving relationship with us and you can’t have a loving relationship without trust. This is because trust is intimate, vulnerable, docile, and sacrificial. Trust also proclaims the goodness of the one trusted, and it glorifies the goodness of the one trusted.

When it come to this journey of union with God I believe He comes to help when invited, since love doesn’t force itself on another. He wants to pour on us oceans of mercy and help but He’s a prisoner of love and therefore limited by our cooperation or lack thereof. I believe our trust is the manner in which we invite Him and the level of our trust is what determines if He is allowed to work fully in us or is met with rejection because we choose a Barabas over Him.

Put the means of temptation out of your immediate reach and pray to the Holy Spirit to fight your temptations for you. He stands by patiently, waiting on us to call on Him, each time temptation comes our way. However, if we leave the means of temptation in front of our eyes and within our hands we have already made our choice and we are walking down the path to sin. The venial sin comes first and by choosing to keep it near, we have already put a foot in the snare of the evil one.

I know your life is a difficult one and I expect you use lust as an escape. However, I also know that a big part of you would like to escape in a way that is pleasing to God rather than offensive. That desire is a beautiful one and a natural one for your soul was created by God and it wishes to return to God. Nurture this desire as a means to cope with your life's many challenges.
