I’m just gonna get straight the point. After doing a 94 day streak I relapsed, but without porn. I noticed that when just doing MO the affects it has on my aren’t as severe compared with PMO. I’d just feel a lil low in mood for the rest of the day, but would usually bounce back tomorrow.

After finding this out I continued to masturbate once at the end of every week. I thought well it doesn’t seem to affect me much so why not. However now I’m in this constant flatline which continued over from my 94 day streak, which is why I broke that one. Now it seems I’m stuck in an infinite flatline. I’m guessing masturbating might be the cause, but if I did the 90 days shouldn’t I be back to normal already with a healthy libido?

Also this morning I was feeling low so I did watch an erotic video. I didn’t relapse to it, and it wasn’t exactly porn, but more like a substitute. It didn’t really have an affect on me either, so it seems my brain doesn’t find that stuff as arousing as it used to be. Which is good, but I’m still in this shit flatline.

If someone can gimme some wisdom or positive reinforcement, that would be appreciated as I’m in a bad place rn.

    Thank you.

    Hey @Nimbo

I am going to be transparent. You may be approaching this in the wrong way bro. Many of us forget that to masturbate (with or without Porn), requires you to acquire an erection. To acquire an erection you need dopamine. Your body has grown accustomed to an high amount of dopamine through your PMO habits, so to cure the issue you want to do the opposite aka avoid habits/activities that provide a high release of dopamine.

The process is similar with erotic videos, whether you relapse to it is not the problem. By indulging in erotic scenes you are undoing the work of your reboot and sensitizing yourself to porn once again. I went through this very cycle myself and could have finished my reboot a lot sooner had I not fallen into this trap. Just because the physical effects do not match that of a relapse, does not mean it is not harming your progress. My advice would be to remain vigilant and avoid all PM and if possible O for a quicker/cleaner reboot.

Final and most important note: 90 days is not the official recovery date, for many of us it will take a lot longer to recover. I would say, a strict and disciplined reboot can have most of the symptoms alleviated within 6-12 months. The stronger the addiction, the longer the recovery. Consider yourself lucky if it takes less than 6 months.

    Good luck
