I have noticed just now that environment and wasting opportunities plays a large part in temptation. Whenever I knew that I would be alone it would trigger autopilot mode and it would seem uncontrollable. This environment factor can be a particular location you feel comfortable and safe or an opportune moment during the day. I am trying to reuse that wasted time for something else, like writing about it on here and sharing the experience with you.
I was recently travelling in Asia and when staying in hostels with others you don't have a socially acceptable opportunity to look at porn or masturbate. The interesting thing is that I had no temptation to do that. I wasn't thinking about it at all. The thought never entered my head.
I made such great and deep connections with people during my travels by being more present. Those experiences of a type of forced alteration in environment proved to me that you are free to use your time however you want and that PMO is just a comforting and automatic habit and nothing more.
I have gone 12 days with no PMO now and I am feeling positive. During my short meditation sessions I am using free thought time to visualise achievements that I want to accomplish in the next few days. These achievements are what I hope will fill these opportune moments. For instance I visualised a good run the other day and then realised that positive vision which does wonders for my mood.
