Ex-satanic worshiper on NoFap

I used to worship Satan. Yes, that's right, the Satan. It's not really a secret but satanists often do not talk about what satanism is to them and how they worship the devil. There's plenty of material on the internet.

One of the nine satanic statements is that one should do whatever brings him physical or intellectual gratification, yet the branch of the satanism which I used to follow, has no clear distinction of what is gratification and compulsion.

And that I did. For over sixteen years. Now I see no difference, since I used my "belief" as an excuse to do anything that pleases me and to avoid everything that makes one successful: effort and hard work.

I wrote this knowing this is a full plate for you religious people out there, but since I am doubting my old belief I'd like to get some advice on this... Share your thoughts on how your religion, or lack of religion, has helped you to align your mind with your NoFap goals.

I've became something very controversial. A satanist who practices abstinence. To say the truth I am confused.

  1. Satan represents indulgence, instead of abstinence!
  2. Satan represents vital existence, instead of spiritual pipe dreams!
  3. Satan represents undefiled wisdom, instead of hypocritical self-deceit!
  4. Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it, instead of love wasted on ingrates!
  5. Satan represents vengeance, instead of turning the other cheek!
  6. Satan represents responsibility to the responsible, instead of concern for psychic vampires!
  7. Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all-fours, who, because of his "divine spiritual and intellectual development", has become the most vicious animal of all!
  8. Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification!
  9. Satan has been the best friend the church has ever had, as he has kept it in business all these years!

Hey thanks for bringing the topic up, I'd imagine it's not a common move at all being in your position.

The way I see it, from what little I know about Satanism in its various forms is it's really a kind of super-egoism. It's about indulging in the self in whatever way.

If that is the view, then I'd say it just limits you ultimately. Even if you are talking about a more intelligent view that isn't like attached to instinct (and of course really being a dopamine junkie) you may be attached to an ideology, and it doesn't matter what that ideology is. As such you are not free, you are to some extent predictable because you function from a program of sorts. In that sense it speaks to #3 on the list up there.

EDIT: In case it isn't clear to anyone who may be reading it, what I mean by that is a program, if you just believe in it rather than see it as a practical way that something just works then it is not 'undefiled wisdom.' It may be a smart form of self-deceit that works, but there is a difference between seeing something as total truth and something that works.

Also like you said it depends on how you define it. Abstinence has a context, it is abstinence from PMO here but the same thing is indulgence in self discipline in whatever you choose to do with your time and energy so it depends on how you look at it.

People also ask

What is the left hand path?
In his The Satanic Bible, he wrote that "Satanism is not a white light religion; it is a religion of the flesh, the mundane, the carnal—all of which are ruled by Satan, the personification of the Left Hand Path."

not funny, not even a little bit.

Yeah that may be his limited take on it, have you looked into the history? There is more context. I mostly just can't take Church of Satan seriously because they seem very simplistic, though there's other organizations like Temple of Set with that one dude in the military that wrote the paper on Mindwar, that's more serious.

History of the terms[edit]
Vamachara[edit]
Main article: Vamachara
Vāmācāra is a Sanskrit term meaning "left-handed attainment" and is synonymous with Left-Hand Path or Left-path (Sanskrit: Vāmamārga).[8][9] It is used to describe a particular mode of worship or spiritual practice (Sanskrit: sadhana) that is not only heterodox(Sanskrit: Nāstika) to standard Vedic injunction, but extreme in comparison to prevailing cultural norms. These practices are often generally considered to be Tantric in orientation. The converse term to Vamacara is Dakshinachara (glossed "Right-Hand Path") which is used to refer not only to orthodox (Āstika) sects but to modes of spirituality that engage in spiritual practices that not only accord with Vedic injunction but are generally agreeable to prevailing cultural norms. That said, left-handed and right-handed modes of practice may be evident in both orthodox and heterodox schools of Dharmic religions such as Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism and Buddhism and are a matter of taste, culture, proclivity, initiation, sadhana and dharmic lineage (parampara).

Tantra and Madame Blavatsky[edit]
The occidental use of the terms Left-Hand Path and Right Hand-Path originated with Madame Blavatsky, a 19th-century occultist who founded the Theosophical Society. She had travelled across parts of southern Asia and claimed to have met with many mystics and magical practitioners in India and Tibet. She developed the term Left-Hand Path as a translation of the term Vamachara, an Indian Tantric practice that emphasised the breaking of Hindu societal taboos by having sexual intercourse in ritual, drinking alcohol, eating meatand assembling in graveyards, as a part of the spiritual practice. The term Vamachara literally meant "the left-hand way" in Sanskrit, and it was from this that Blavatsky first coined the term.[1]:178

Returning to Europe, Blavatsky began using the term. It was relatively easy for her to associate left with evil in many European countries, where it already had an association with many negative things; as the historian Dave Evans noted, homosexuals were referred to as "left-handed" while in Protestant nations, Roman Catholics were called "left-footers".[1]:177 This association with negative aspects of society can be traced back to the Bible, in which it states:

And he shall separate them one from another,
as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats.
And he shall set the sheep on his right,
but the goats on his left.

Matthew 25: 32-33

I feel very much the same way. I used to "worship" the flesh and animal in me for over a decade. And less than a year ago I started to doubt it seriously. I never called myself a Satanist, but I guess I were one. Cos I did practice a lot of it unintentionally without knowing that such philosophy existed. In the end I realized that I've been the prisoner of my flesh all along. That it was a weight holding me down. To me now it's about balance.

As far as Satan, I see Satan as God's alter ego. An endless metaphorical battle between the flesh, the animalistic nature and higher self. It's said we are crated in His image. So maybe it is also supposed to mean that He is imperfect, just as we are? But the again, it's also said that He is perfect. So can Satan be his alter-ego? But can there be a whole that is made up of only a half? So maybe the very thing that he is imperfect makes him perfect!?

I see it everywhere in nature. It's made up of duality. Day and night, up and down, pain and pleasure, revenge and forgiveness, indulgence and abstinence. Just two sides of a same coin. And without either the whole would not be complete. Without either none would exist. So as far as I am concerned, you and me have been worshiping God from the very beginning.

You have practiced one side for very long. So maybe it's time that you explore the other. Maybe don't look at this as leaving Satanism behind or betraying it in any way. The Satan is said once to be a beautiful angel. Lucifer - the light bringer - the morning star. And all that jazz, ya know. The star that shows lost sailors a way and a hope. First light just before the dawn.

Darkness is always there, even when you can see nothing but light the darkness is always in a background. It's the space that light fills up. So if you want the darkness can always be there with you. Embrace that part of yourself. But also realize that there is so much more to it than that. That it's just a one side of things.

Somebody should make up a religion like that. Combine the Bible and the Satanic Bible. Maybe he could have a black snake on one shoulder and a white pigeon on another. Hmm.

I am a Seventh-day Adventist Christian.
I do not believe that God will do for us what we can do for ourselves.
In other words, He will not force me to stop jerking my thing if I do not want to. The choice is left to me, but He will strengthen and work with those who choose to suffer through the hard work it takes in overcoming. Obviously, PMO is only one thing I am working on, because there is also soul winning and putting self aside for the uplifting of others. PMO is simply one aspect.

One thing that has helped me out a TON is hope. I have hope, and therefore I will not go back to where I was before. I know the suffering that comes through the hard work will be worth it in the end.

No only that, the Bible talks about how when a man and a woman are married, and they both are agreed in their lifestyles and beliefs, sex suddenly becomes AWESOME between the two. Not only are they having sex, but they LOVE each other. The feeling that one can get from that cannot be met through mere indulgence. I am a single dude, but I am not a virgin so I already know what sex is like. It feels awesome, but empty without love and commitment. I believe - and have experienced - that following the law of God not only allows you to have a clear conscience, but brings happiness too.

Knowing the truth about the character of God has helped me out a lot. There are many lies in mainstream Christianity about God, and these lies end up turning people off. It's really sad to see.

A good website that would be good for anyone regarding PMO is www.howtostopmasturbation.com I know the author personally.

Also, some books that the SDA church puts out would be Steps to Christ, Great Controversy, and Desire of Ages. I would not call them specifically Adventist books because the point of them is to point people to Jesus for salvation, not to the church. Steps to Christ is a short book about knowing Jesus as a friend. Great Controversy goes through the dark ages, through today's day and age, and to the end, and shows how history has fulfilled prophecy. Desire of Ages goes through the life of Jesus and shows that He is the friend of sinners.

I hope you find strength in your fight against PMO!

@mcrcvrng please stop the jokes. Are you atheist?

Actually the last post wasn't a joke, it was just speculation about the symbolism of putting palms together like they do in yoga. The Wikipedia bit I quoted above shows the origin of the expression from India, it would seem to be a different context from the connotation given later for Satanism in opposition to Christianity.

To answer your question, I don't consider myself an atheist but neither do I belong to any religion myself. I do however think there is wisdom to be gained in various traditions, in fact I remember reading online that the founder of the Temple of Set, Aquino said something like they also learn from the Right Hand Path. Now what they do with that knowledge is of course another story..

fuck satan fuck jesus fuck everybody. you should be your own god and believe in yourself. and thats a fact. If you want to worship something you worship scientifically the sun and nature, because thats what YOU are and what has brought you to life. IM not going against religion or nothing but yes fairy tails can make you feel better but lets go back to reality.
All the smartest people is the world john lennon illuminati(Illuminated people get it) physicist scientists rulers are self worshippers and worship nature and what has brought them to life. That doesnt make them evil and a satanist. And doesnt also mean your greedy and only care about yourself.
The End

I see @IggyIshness. Thanks for sharing your view.

What you are describing is exactly what I believe. Satan is the nature, Satan is the nature inside each of us. If you take some time to read the satanic bible you'll see that it explains exactly what you said, plus some hatred to Christianity.

Search for LaVey satanic bible since I can't post links here.

Why do you think nasa keeps secrets from us about aliens technology etc? because everybody is going to go crazy! because their beliefs in religion and they will start protesting and shit. I watched this movie where aliens sent humans a space ship blueprints and in the movie people go crazy mainly the religious people. And a guy who was wearing a cross earlier in fthe movie took bombs and blew up the ship because of this thoughts and craziness. Im not saying to be evil narcissistic and just evil satanistt, Im saying be a good human being help other people make a this place a better place. Be the change you want to see in the world. Believe in yourself and science and expand the human race and reproduce. Thats why we are here on this planet and your duty as a species.

Im not against chistranity, im against ALL of it, satan whatever else shit it is. Nature is the universe and the universe is us thats science. Do you know what religion has done to this world?! they killed scientist they killed people itsaccually very violent and crazy behind the scenes. You know those "flat earthers" who belive the earth is flat? those are religous people who are still in denial that the earth is round. Im not saying that religous people are stupid but im just stating some facts. I belive in facts in science not fairy tails and lies. Of course not all the time because you can hurt people but in this case. You know the quote If your honest you will have few but good friends or something like that?

I was in doubt in the first post, and the last days I tried to align NoFap with a search for God. I even tried to watch some Homilias by catholic priest Padre Paulo Ricardo, but being Christian always comes down to one thing: Jesus exists.

I actually admire monks, if you see my profile I am part of celibate life, and catholic priests do this they entire life. They are the Masters of NoFap. And I like to listen to Gregorian Chant, Mozart Masses, I like even to read the Bible. By the way, I read the Bible from beginning to end in 2013. I know some Christians who never did this, and I am not even of their creed!

But read the Bible is a thing very different from believing:

  1. God created the world in seven days.
  2. Mary had a child without sex.
  3. Jesus revived after death.
  4. Moses opened the Red Sea
  5. Eliah went to the sky in a fire chariot (!)
  6. Noah put all the animals of the world in a giant ship... alone.
  7. Apocalipse
  8. Jesus is God
  9. God is at the same time Jesus, God, and Holy Spirit
  10. let's keep it at ten... we have many more.
Even if I could overlook everything, because I like the good things in Christianity like chastity, charity, being good, forgiving, being active, not eat much, avoid wine, I find the item (8) simple impossible to grasp.

I know a lot about religion, my father is co-priest of a church (baptist protestant) and at the same he is one of the worst human beings I know. He lies like he breathes. And they know it at the church, but it's all Ok.

I researched buddhism, taoism, xintoism, Islam, hare-krishna, seicho-no-ie, and all sorts of protestantism and christian faiths, and in the end I don't buy it.

The satanic bible is full of rituals to sell your soul and other things, but right at the start, LaVey explains that there is no God, so all that is just a play, which may or may not please your. It's not even mandatory to sell your soul, basically, you're in charge, you do what you want, just don't complain if things aren't like you expected.

By all this, which I wrote on my journal too, I am each day more satanic, and more glued to my philosophical satanism -- which is not all that philosophical since I did some of the rituals, and the devil did his part. Yet, I found the comments from people insightful, and I don't jugde people by their religion or what they believe.

I was trying to find what works best for me and from what I've seen till now, I'll keep things as they are.

TL;DR: fuck you
