Exceedingly simple but true cliche

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by Deleted Account, Sep 5, 2019.

  1. Ask yourself who you don't want to be.

    Then don't be that person.

Wouldn't it be easier if u know what u want to be? And you go and be it?

Na I'm pretty sure it's easier to focus on what you do want in life.

  5. I think it's a good method. Especially for People who are not sure what they want to be, I was really pissed and stressed out because of all the 'follow your passion' tips. Sure it's great, but if you don't know it then it will stress you...
And you know easier what you don't want to be

Pretty good advice. Wish I had that told me before I figured out what I want to be.

Like if you know that already of course focus on that, but that's just not the case for everyone. And what people don't seem to get is that it's not something you could just easily figure out by thinking about things you like or some bullshit like that. You can't cure flimsy self image overnight. Yet usually even the most lost person knows what they would never want to become.

I'd rather crave to be what i want to be instead of trying to "not become something/someone".

  8. You're missing the point... That implies you know what you want to be.

Let's simplify my favorite argument with my wife...

'babe what do you want for dinner?'

    ''idk... I don't want pizza...I don't want Chinese food... I don't want shwarma..."

At least we're crossing out what we don't want. Eventually shell get to what she does want.

I'm not saying that you are wrong.
    But,
    There's uncountable things I don't like and obviously I wouldn't want that.
So, I'd rather chase the one thing i like than run after the uncountable.
In the latter case you don't even know what you want.

    I'm open to criticism.

  11. Also true. You're further along then some people..
For those who are at rock bottom.. let's say an alcoholic loses his licence and can't drive to work and his life is in a tail spin.. maybe focusing on not drinking is a good place to start.
Once he gets that under control and finds some clarity he can figure out what it is he wants.

I agree. First you need to take out the things you don't want. Thus, making room for things you want. If you remove the things you dont want, then these things dont mess with your mind so much and distract you, so you can start thinking what you really want, and start adding those things in your life.

  14. Well to date she always does.
