Extreme and nasty porn harder to get rid of?

I'm curious to know if other people find it harder to get the most nastiest and sickest porn out of your head? I don't want to be to graphic or trigger anyone but everyone here can pretty much figure what kind of stuff I'm talking about. For me I cant recall any of the soft stuff, but the more extreme stuff I remember clearly. It's the most extreme stuff that makes me want to watch porn or masturbate. Anyone else feel this same way? Or any suggestions on how to get it out of your head?

I understand how that feels, I do think the more disturbing stuff makes more of an impression that sticks with you. I escalated to a few fetishes that were pretty messed up. I'm on day 57 no porn or masturbation and some scenes/images/genres will still pop into my head from time to time.

I think the important thing is what you do with these thoughts. Many people on this forum have said that it is best not to engage with the thought. It's impossible to try to not think about something but you can immediately dismiss it with an emotion like anger, disgust or apathy for example. If you fantasize then you are letting your brain get the (tiny) chemical hit it is looking for and strengthening the associated brain pathways.

I have been having success by doing this. At the start some of the disturbing stuff was showing up in my dreams even but now it's nothing more than a thought that might show up every few days.

As to how to get rid of the thoughts... Maybe do something that requires a lot of concentration - any team sports, chess or real time strategy games. It would be hard to think tactically and fantasize at the same time.

  3. Honestly, I've never ventured too deeply into that stuff, but I was always horrified whenever I stumbled upon sketchy or more extreme stuff.

This is totally normal. As Lazarus said above.

My husband @ILoathePorn does what was mentioned above. He stops all fantasy with a loud NO! in his head. Some focus on the feeling of shame they would feel after a relapse. This is another technique that could help. http://www.yourbrainonporn.com/fast-phobia-cure

I struggle with this. Some of the genres I've watched in the past aren't exactly popular.
I still see the images in my head...
And even just thinking it relives the shame and guilt like it was yesterday.
I've been about 1.5 years with these flashbacks.

It may sound strange but in order for me myself to curb the unwanted interest towards these fetishes, I've made sure if I get urges and realapse as a result, I make a conscious effort to relapse to typical genres. The softest stuff.
For me personally it's helped stop myself thinking of and going to the weird stuff whenever I get urges.

I know this is totally odd to some people here, but for me it's helped overcome my past failures.

And now I've reset my mind to how it was when I started watching porn, I can more easily simply stop, for longer periods of time each time. Without the unwanted weird urges and now just normal urges.

I can't believe I haven't stumbled onto this site before. Thanks ill be checking out the whole site.

    This makes sense.

This is what I do, but it pisses me off that the stuff that you want to forget the most is the hardest to forget. Some of the stuff just makes you want to loose hope in humanity.

Is like the saying "what has been seen, cannot be unseen".

Im trying to move as far away from my past as possible, without losing who I am as a person as a result.
    It's a difficult thing.
