Fact or fiction- masturbation causes blindness.

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Fractured Mindset, Feb 8, 2020.

  1. Masturbation causes blindness, this is something I heard a long time ago, but haven't given much thought to recently, until this past thursday at an eye doctor appointment. Having been off masturbation since may, my stigmatism has actually reduced and I was told if it goes down more in the next year I won't need stigmatism corrections with my contact lenses.

I don't know if the two things are related, but I'm wondering what you all think.

Nothing officially confirming this. My eye sight improved last time too (after a previous fairly long streak), but there are some studies saying it’s due to the lens in your eye ageing and becoming stiffer.

Not an optometrist, but I would’ve thought if masturbation sent you blind, sex woul too.

  3. I doubt it. Although some people do say their eyes look vaguely "more alive" during NoFap.

I would imagine if we are not staring at our phones or computer screens for hours at a time watching P that in and if itself might cause eye strain. Another myth was your palms would get hairy. Mine just got smoother and softer using lotion for other things, lol. Otherwise, I'm part guerrilla so maybe it's true.

If that were the case, most of the members of this page would be blind.

Masturbation may not cause blindness, but it can cause eyesight issues.

Ive experienced this first hand in the past when I would masturbate everyday and could not stop for even one day.

My eyesight was completely plagued with vision floaters.

This is not like the normality of having a 1-2 floaters here and there sometimes when looking at a bright image or the sky.

This was probably 20-30 floaters everywhere in my vision. When I looked at a bright surface it was worse, but when I even just did things while not focusing on them I could still notice them.

I also had some slight vision problems other than floaters too, my vision seemed dimmer that usual, and when trying to focus sharply on something close I couldn’t and I still noticed a slight blur to my vision.

Those are my eyesight symptoms I had after 1 year of chronic masturbation.

I could only imagine if I did it for 10 years like some people on this forum.

    DONT masturbate. Save your health.

    Yes. 95%

I think this is because I have yet to make it to 90 days (that was when I made it to 57 days followed with many 30-40 day streaks).

But yes. My vision is pretty much completely back.

    Very sharp precise vision.

Bright liveliness in colors that I look at in nature, landscapes, art. Etc.

    No vision floaters. Literally none.

Faster focusing capabilities in my eyes. Sharp and Whitty eyesight. No more squinting to try and focus.

This is true eye health. And in my experience, masturbation can definitely temporarily alter that.

I bet my vision (although sharp and healthy) could get even alittle better. Like I said, I haven’t made it the full 90 days yet, but we’ll see!

Although it’s obvious that many masturbation myths are.. myths.

I do believe that some myths are simply extreme over exaggerations of the real problems that can occur from chronic masturbation.

    For example.

Like I said above with eyesight, you may not go blind, but it will definitely mess with your vision and eye health.

Another myth is that people go completely crazy and manic from chronic masturbation. Who knows actually. I don’t know where I would’ve been if I kept on doing it everyday. But I do think it’s simply again, an over exaggeration of the real symptom. People experience extreme social anxiety, major depression, bipolar disorder (in some cases), adhd, etc. Again, in my personally experience, mental health is definitely effected by over masturbation.

Another myth, is that you can go bald.

This is actually sort of true.

Most members experience thinning of hair, weakening of hair follicles, and sometimes, almost actually complete baldness.

The hairy palms though. That’s a complete myth. That’s not even scientifically possible I don’t think.

  10. Nice! That's good. I've started to masturbate since I was 9 and to tell the truth it didn't affect my eyesight at all even though I wear glasses since my early childhood (I can see without wearing them) but since 2017 my eyesight is deteriorating very quickly. I have the feeling that it has sth to do with fapping. I'm only in my second day of nofap, I don't think that I'm gonna see any improvements in the next few weeks. In fact, I expect withdrawal symptoms... Thanks for answering!

I noticed my floaters began to completely clear up and disappear entirely around days 30-50. Once you reach 90 days though, your eye problems should be completely healed or atleast for the most part depending on how long you’ve been addicted.

That is how long it took for me being a hardcore addict for just 1 year.

I could imagine long term addicts needing maybe 150-200 days in the worst cases.

    Good luck!

  12. I agree. I don't believe in many things when it comes to the subject of masturbation and benefits of nofap. I don't believe, for example, that by doing nofap you'll attract women's attention. That's so ridiculous.

  13. Thanks! And good luck to you too!
